Thinking about you, and hoping that you'll be good as new and ready to create more great music for another ...... 60 years or so. I still listen to " Rope Ladder " and " Morning Song " at least once a month, and that's over a period of many, many years now. Probably be doing the same with " Kelly's Blues " They are some great songs. Hoping only the best for you and your family.

Dear Jack,

I have loved your music since I was very young. I am now listening to "More Jack Than God" and just as fascinated as I was when I first heard The Cream. (For some reason I cannot really explain, "Harmony Row" is my favourite of all your work.)

I was shocked to hear what you have gone through; relieved and happy to hear that you have gone through it successfully.

There are lots of us who feel great affection for you.

One of whom is

Charley

May your recovery continue with great speed

As a fellow Cancer survivor I always feel such pain upon hearing of another's affliction. It can be beaten and I am so glad to hear of your recovery progress. They always told me a good positive outlook was a key to recovery but I found a strange sense of humour was a great help as well.

Your music has always been some of the brilliant and has pointed me in so many different directions that I could never thank you enough. I loved Cream but Rope Ladder To The Moon was a true inspiration.

Please take care and get well.

Jack:

Your music has meant a great deal to me ever since I first heard Fresh Cream in 1967 and saw the band play live twice in 1968. Your adventurous musical spirit, virtuosity, and unflagging committment to your art have always been a great inspiration.

I'm happy to hear that you are on the road to recovery, and am looking forward to hearing your next musical adventures, whatever they may be.

Sincerely,

Hyam R. Sosnow

WE all look forward to hearing from you again. I love the last two recordings and the muscial direction you and your band have taken.

My big brother, Thomas, was your biggest supporter and was responsible for me discovering your music. He passed away on 10/17/03 very suddenly. Whenever I hear your music, I have and always will think of him. At his funeral service we played a couple of your compositions from various periods in your career.

My God continue to touch you and your family. Please know that your music gets us through good times and bad.

If you should get bored while recovering, you can see some of my handmade basses on http://home19.inet.tele.dk/haze/ or just seach for "fenderbird" there are lots of links to me. Hello Jack,

Extremely good news that you are on the road to recovery, and I wish you a very quick journey to the very best of health.

I would like to say (again) a huge 'THANK YOU' for the joy, inspiration and challenge : from listening to your music, following your musical path, and attempting to emulate your beautiful, harmonic basslines over the years.

Your music will always be top of my listening list, as it has been for 35 years.

Best wishes,

Dear Jack, Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery.I dreamt about how very ill you were when I was in England this past July and again this month when I was on retreat at The Chalice Well Gardens in Glastonbury. I am so sorry to know the dreams were real and that you have suffered so ! I was so very concerned by these dreams that I prayed for you at the Red Well and left a prayer ribbon for you and your family there , you have been on my mind so much. Be assured dear Jack that our Lady of the Well and all her elemental friends have taken your prayers and health concerns into the bright Christ Light and that you are well-loved and watched over and healing !!! Bless you Jack, hang in there and rest and recover and feed your spirit body too. The healing light of God/Goddess be with you. love, Gail

I am very glad to hear you are getting along well. I went through the cancer thing last year myself. Not a fun experience, but one that puts the rest of life in a totally different perspective.

"Politician" was the first song I learned on bass, and I am still listening and loving your work. Still listen to your bass on Zappa's "Apostrophe"

Hope all continues to go well, and hope you can draw inspiration from your experience as I did.

Best Wishes to Jack and Family for a speedy and full recovery. I felt faint for a moment when I read the e-mail bulletin I just opened about Jack's health concern. I just lost my mother this past May, and I am still feeling that daily pain. My Mom knew how much I loved Jack's music ever since I was 13 in 1968, and saw him with Cream at Madison Square Garden. From that point I followed his career through solo and group efforts and saw him perform many times. Jack's music, musicianship, and love of his art have help guide me through this life. Long live Jack Bruce!

Your family has said that they're hoping you'll be recording and touring again; if that happens I'll be really happy but if not it will be almost as good to know that you're just better. Good luck.

I loved playing my red SG style EB0 and EB3 basses back in the late 60's....mainly because they made me feel like I was on a path towards greatness....of course that greatness had a name...Jack Bruce! Although I've never met you, I feel an afinity with you....I'm sure you've that before. My only connection is by way of a mutual close friend, Bruce Gary. He let me know what the "man" was like. He couldn't say enough! I wish you wellness.

All the best for a good recovery Jack. I've enjoyed your music over the years and have great memories of a somewhat tipsy JB playing at the Band-on-the-Wall in Manchester UK in the late '70's. It was a Wilson's bar but you had got lubricated at a pub down the road serving Boddy's. Your slautation to the wonders of Boddingtons between songs was most appreciated! (and the playing was great too!)

Good Luck Mate!

Jack,

A friend of mine just e-mailed me that you had the transplant. He is a native of Boston, Mass., now living in San Francisco. We are both still playing bass. He was the one that opened my eyes to the depth and intensity and humanity that you bring to the instrument. It was from that prompting(and wearing out the grooves on Disraeli Gears, Fresh Cream, Wheels of Fire, and the Goodbye album)that I decided to go to Boston to study at the Berklee College of Music. I started there in 1977 and saw you at Paul's Mall(a small club in downtown Boston) at either the end of '77 or beginning of '78. You were promoting the "How's Trick's" album, and the band was slammin' that night. I did not have the courage to approach you, but I will take this time to say, in light of the new oppertunity that you have in this life, that I am looking forward to seeing you as soon as possible. There are some great Concert clubs in the St. Louis area. POP'S and The Pagent are two that come to mind. I will check the sight to find out when and where you will be. In the meantime congratulations, enjoy your new start, and get your rest because I will be looking forward to some "Fresh Cream"!!!

Sincerely,

Barry Seigel

Hi Jack

I got a shock to hear that you were ill, but am overjoyed that the op went well. Your music has been an inspiration to me and you are still the best bassist around in my opinion. Your other musical talents astound me and you have brought a lot of musical joy to millions.

Take it easy with the recovery, but never stop the innovation with your music, because that is the inspiration that will drive many musicians for centuries to come.

Steve

Jack-Ever since I saw the Cream farewell concert at Madison square Garden (did you know that you caused such an overcrowd that the NYC fire chief saw the two page pullout in the New York Daily news that he went crazy because fans were sitting on the stairs and fined MSG! STILL the largest crowd there ever! What a Precedent!) I have remained a loyal fan with your complete discograpy. Jet Set Jewel remains one of the greatest songs of the past 30 years and I have heard many songs. I am SO relieved that you came through-there will NEVER be another voice and style like yours. I am dead serious when I compare you to great jazz singers-especially Sinatra. The music world is so now bereft of talent that you fill a void of large purport.PLEASE keep yourself well and churing out such excellent art.Is Peter well? Your duo outdid the Beatles. God's blessings on you and yours and get another collaboration going with Mister McLauglin! It will rip!-Philip

I have been a fan of yours for many, many many years. As a wee lad of 15 I idolized "Cream", it was my favorite band and the first band I ever saw. I grew up in New Jersey and as a birthday present my mother allowed my older brother to take me to New York City to see Cream perform at the "Cafe-A-Gogo". I was blown away as was my older brother and I have been a lifelong fan of yours ever since. Therfore, I was deeply saddened to hear of your illness and I hope and pray for your successful and speedy recovery as well as looking forward to seeing you perform in the near future. Back in 2002 I was fortunate enough to catch your gig at BB KING'S with two dear friends, Charlie and Mitch. As always your performance was inspirational, exhibiting an in the moment style sorely lacking in most of today's current "LIVE" acts. I look forward to experiencing a moment like that again and continue to celebrate the gift that is your music. LET NOTHING PUT OUT THE FIRE!!!!!!!

Devastated to hear about your health problems, Jack, but SO pleased that you've come through! We go back a long way - "I Feel Free" on TOTP in '66! I was truly fortunate to see you in Bristol with what I feel was the gratest band I have ever seen - Lifetime. Never quite got over that gig! And you were very kind to a poverty-stricken 18-year-old in Ronnie's in 1971. You found time to talk between sets with Larry Coryell and bought me a double scotch! What a star!

I was lucky enough to meet Johnny Mac when he was over here with Shakti last January. We had a good long chat about you and the old days with Graham Bond and Lifetime. I don't know how close you are now but I have done my bit to contact him and let him know the situation. Shakti are playing in London soon. Hope he gets in touch.

You and your music really changed my life and I am so grateful for all that you have given me. Thinking of you and hoping you go from strength to strength.

All the Best

Mike

Ten years ago, as a mere 22 year old, I began a quest searching vinyl emporiums for the music of Jack Bruce. Songs for a Tailor was first and the others followed. I even managed the West, Bruce and Laing albums. As eveyone listened to Nirvana or Pearl Jam, I was listened to Bruce. Ten years later I'm listening to Shadows in the Air and it's a joy! Thanks Jack for the music so inspired, so passionate. I can't wait for more. Peace.

Twenty-seven years ago, I was a kid taking bass lessons. One day, my teacher said "if you want to hear the most amazing bass playing, go get an album called The Best Of Cream". He was right. Since then I've heard you on everything from "Escalator Over The Hill" to "Why Dontcha", with everyone from Mike Mantler to Lifetime, and live when you had Pat Thrall in the band. Your work has inspired me, uplifted me, and got me through some rough times (Songs For a Tailor helped save my sanity!). Thank you for a lifetime of great work, and best wishes for many healthy years to come.

Dear Mr. Bruce,

as a human being I wish you a speedy recovery. Health is the most important thing in life, followed closely by love and the fulfillment of one's innermost dreams and desires.

therefore, as a lyricist, I have valued your amazingly fruitful collaboration with Pete Brown - among other magical encounters with key talents in your life - as one of the few true inspirations in doing "my own thing".

Thank you for existing.

Godspeed, Mr. Bruce. May you live long and prosper.

Patrick

ps We almost met personally back in 1994 at an Esslingen Gig with Gary Moore when I delivered a personal note from Don Preston to you. I was too nervous - then - and handed it over to one of the promoters of that event.

Dear Jack,

I am truly sorry to hear about your illness, but I am heartened to hear that you are making a comeback as usual. Congratulations upon your successful surgery, and for your inevitable return to full health and spirits.

Jack, your music has been part of the soundtrack of my life, and indeed I continually listen to your work. Although I have been a full-time luthier for 25 years now (you can see my work at www.mcinturffguitars.com)it is still a blast to perform your work with many of my friends. I was delighted to see "Out Into The Fields" included on your recent disc, and it is rather strange that your new version is somewhat akin to an arraingment of the tune that I had been doing. Ive spent a bit of time over the years taking the liberty of coming up with slightly different arraingments of some of your work. You might even like some of it, and want to kill me over some of it! I wish that you could hear my version of "Golden Days", one of my favorite songs of your's. That song will still get me a bit teary if Im in that mood. That is a deep song.

All my very best wishes for a speedy recovery....and many thanks for the countless happy hours that Ive spent with your work.

Terry McInturff

I owe you an immense debt. Your example has illuminated my bass playing, and inspired me again and again in my attempts to capture, hold and reproduce those sounds of yours - and to create some of my own. If you have use for it, I would like to return to you this evening some of the energy and joy that I have drawn from your music over the years. You are the Moses of bass. You led our people out of slavery. Thank you for that, thank you for the songs, thank you for not being afraid to give in to your musical id and let rip for all of us. Enjoy the new liver.

Dear Jack, I sent you an email on September 12th and now I certainly understand why a reply was not forthcoming. My friend notified me just today of what has transpired and all I can do is feel elated to know that God and medical Godliness have brought you through to restored health. When I saw you at the Greek Theatre this year you fooled me because you looked just WONDERFUL! I can only send this today in the hopes that tomorrow is brighter and closer to the life you know, love and enjoy. You are brave and blessed. Much love to you and your family and get well soon. Love, Michelle

Dear Jack Bruce: I was not aware you were having health issues until I logged onto your site today, the 29th of October, 2003. I have not had the chance to visit your web site recently (I left a "guestbook entry" a year or so ago, and after logging on today, I wanted to leave something here). One reason I have not been back is I have heavily been involved in geneology research, tracing the Miller family back to its Scottish (YEAH!) roots, as well as other branches (Washburn, Hoxie, Preston, and Ford). I am glad to have checked out your site today, as well to find out you had a successful surgery, and are on the mend to a healthy recovery, and soon I hope. You may have heard "this song" many times, but you were my inspiration for learning the bass, taking music in college, and joining band(s). Your style, while you admit is inspired by many in various genres, is one of a kind in the rock (et all) world of music. My son, Preston J. Miller, is carrying on the tradition, and is now in his 7th(!) year of playing string bass, and has been to a fine arts camp (Blue Lake) here in Michigan three times, the last for Jazz...he loves his music, and I am encouraging him to pursue on as he goes forward in life. I don't want to go on about myself or my family...I just want to end by simply saying that I wish you godspeed and good/fast health and recovery, and my best and regards to your family and friends as you go forward. Take care, Mr. Jack Bruce, and keep playing...you are not only an inspiration to your family but to the rest of us, your fans, as well. James A. My wife is currently awaiting a liver transplant, so I have some idea of how you and your family felt as you awaited the outsome of tests, and then endured endless days and nights, hoping that a donor would become available. Having heard your name mentioned on an episode of the cop drama "Law & Order" last night, I was reminded to check and see how you were doing, and was overjoyed to hear you had found a donor and come through surgery sucessfully. "Harmony Row" remains one of my favorite albums (I've worn out three copies over the years), and I look forward to hearing a good deal more music from you in the years to come.

Dear Jack,

So sorry to hear about your health problems. I wish you a speedy recovery.

I live in Kuala Lumpur but recently took the opportunity, while staying in a tenement house in Govan, to listen to Harmony Row after more than twenty years. Inevitably, that brought me to some of your most recent work. Perhaps it is the profoundly open hearted quality of your creativity that motivates me to write to you. Please know that my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Dear Jack Bruce and family, I have this instant only learned of Jack's liver transplant and am overjoyed to hear he has recovered and will continue to make beautiful music.

I've so much enjoyed Jack's music over the years. Your collaboration with Zappa on Apostrophe is very dear to me and being a fellow Scot makes it all the more special.

There was one song you did late 70's I think it may have been entitled "something to live for" I wonder if you could tell me which album that's on?

When you get better, come to Christchurch in New Zealand and play a gig please. That would be so great! If you haven't already been to this gorgeous country, I'm sure it would be an inspiration to you.

Have a speedy recovery and live life to the full,

love and respect,

Jack Bruce - The most innovative and interesting bass player I have ever heard. A consumate musician. I am an avid Cream fan. When I was at school I saw Jack as part of Lifetime (St. George's Hall, Liverpool, December 1970) and again,in Liverpool, as part of Jack Bruce and Friends (the Stadium, 1971). The news of Jack's illness came as a great shock. However, I am overjoyed to hear of his good recovery and excellent prognosis. I look forward to listening to more of Jack's work in the years to come. Every good wish, Jack

Jack: I was sorry to hear of your illness but pleased to hear of your successful surgery and recovery. Like others here, I've been a fan since childhood. In high school, I briefly played bass in a very bad garage band and tried to copy your style, to no avail, naturally.

I've managed to hang on to my LP copies of "Songs for a Tailor" and "Harmony Row," though some rat swiped my "Things We Like" some years ago. Glad to see it's being re-released and that you're still producing great new music.

Get well soon. My prayers are with you and your family.

Jack, Sorry to hear you fell ill; but also VERY glad to hear that you caught it before anything worse could have happened. I saw Leslie West in 1999 just a VERY few months after his heart sugery. I could tell he was still struggling a bit, but well. I recently lost my Father and it is still hard. So, you and Leslie take care of yourselves. I wouldn't like to lose either one of you guys, since you guys DID have one of my MOST favorites of bands together.

Peace and Take Care Dude, Mark Marvin

My best wishes go out to you. I will pray for a speedy recovery and hope to see you continue to produce the excellent music you have in the past. If you need a vacation spot I can probably arrange a location close to the Gulf of Mexico in Northwest Florida. Let me know. Again Thank You for the music. Oh yes, In the late 70's I was able to pick up an EB3. Still have it, great bass. Peace/Love

Hi Jack,

I was amazed at the news you were unwell because you were in such good form on Jools Holland and on the 'Wyman' and Paul Jones shows (i call him wyman because he seemed to think your name is Bruce).

Hey, I have been plastering your name all over the BBC Websites for ages, both on the 'Critical list' (yeah..you should def be on that) on R2 and on the R4 'Choice is Yours). Well that was my last posting..so from now on the choice really is yours. Hopefully it means more great music.

I thought 'UH-OH' was brill, one of the best songs for ages.

It goes back a hell of a long way..even to a live Graham Bond 'live at Kooks Kleek' L.P....Remember that...right through to the great solo stuff (even punk critic, Paul Morley hailed 'Out of the Storm' as a classic).

well even I was a punk in those days (b.1959) but I kept buying your stuff because I had an older cousin who lent me the Cream records.

Promise to get better Jack and I will get you on Desert Island Discs if it kills me!

Fond memories of seeing you at band on the wall and with 'West, Bruce and Laing' at the Free trade hall....the first gig i ever went to,..ahem Rory Gallagher was the next. So by the law of averages you will be fine, but..hey, don't go to the pub with George Best..okay!!!

If all the love we feel for your music could be translated in life substance, you'll be the healthiest man on earth, Jack. I've heard a lot of bad rumors, but I want to believe that you'll gonna be fine. Get well soon. Best wishes from France.
