Hi - I would really like to wish Jack a speedy recovery from surgery, and hope that the transplant is a complete success. Jack has been an inspiration to me for more years than I care to remember (OK - 37 or so), since I first saw him play with Cream in 1966.

Dear Jack,

I am thankful we have an original and a pioneer such as you still with us. We have lost too many. Since the first time I heard your music, I have been absolutely hooked. I have your 1990 signature thumb #11 which is just one tangible piece of your art I will always cherish.

Many thanks for the countess hours of great music. My best to you and yours.

You're a major talent, and a great favorite of mine going back to the Cream days. I play bass, and you've absolutely been one of my best teachers. I love More Jack than God, and I'm so grateful for the re-releases from earlier this year. With all of this awareness of you through the recent cd's, I am especially saddened to hear of these health problems. You've got my wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery, and I hope to hear more of your wonderful music live in the near future.

Dear Jack Bruce, I've just now learned of your recent health problems. While somewhat alarmed, I'm very happy to hear that the transplant was a success and I'm praying for your continuous recovery and good health. As a fellow musician, you have been an *incredible* source of inspiration for the past 30+ years. I feel very fortunate to have been able to see you at Miami Stadium on the Cream Farewell Tour (with Terry Reid, remember?)Your musical "vibe", the gift you've given us all, is something that I'll keep for as long as live. (I can only regret having never had the opportunity to jam with you personally!) Thanks for everything, Jack, and best of luck to you, always.

Jack: Best wishes for a speedy recovery - I'm so glad this option was available for you. I have always been moved by your playing. I was 16 when I first heard CREAM and the experience was like NOTHING I'd ever felt before. My son, Nick, is now 24 and plays guitar. He asked for and started lessons at 12. Hmm - I guess all my listening to guitar blues and rock had a bit of an influence on him. We viewed a documentary on Cream that we both enjoyed very much when he was 13. It was each of you explaining your influences and how you blended them into Cream. He (Nick) was astounded at your playing, and watched it over and over. Thank you for the sincerity and heart you've put into your work. I love your voice, also, and am so very glad that you chose to pursue a career in music, as your contribution has been immense. I sure wish I could see you live - maybe you'll tour and visit us in Sacramento or San Francisco one day. God Bless You and keep you, Jack. Donna Brown brownd@csus.edu

Jack, I am so glad to be able to say 'hello' to you! I have just been catching up on some remastered releases - Songs for a Tailor and Harmony Row, also DVDs JB& Friends and the Canterbury one. I picked these up in the last week and so I thought I'd check out your site today. What a shock - I had no idea - hope you're feeling a lot better very soon. I saw you at the Edinburgh Festival in 1985 ( I think!!) at Qweens Hall. What a thunderous gig! I have been listening to your music since the late 60s and will never tire of it. Keep on keeping on! Come and see us in Sydney when you can! You're always welcome!

Best regards, Pete

Jack, Godspeed with your recovery. I was introduced to your work with the Cream in late 1968 at the age of 12. I began playing the drums in 1965, and since the first I heard your music, it has remained one of the primary influences and inspirations to me. In the many years since, I have turned many a bass player and guitarist on to your work, and I think they have all benefited from it. Songs for a Tailor and Harmony Row are two of my favorite works I have by any musician. Listening to you also taught me how to sing. Thanks for the many years of pleasure and instruction. If you come to the Chicago area again, I hope to see you perform.

Best of wishes to you, Jack. Have been a fan for a million years, at least since Cream anyway. Thank you for all you have given us all. We are all pulling for you. And by the way the new album is becoming a favorite right up there with NTYMSOOT and OOTS and HR. Take care.

Dear Jack, Cream, back in the 60s, were my first music fad, the first band to reach my "music G-spot" as I call it. In other words you, Eric & Ginger were the first musicians to show me that deeper, more impactful music existed. I had & enjoyed all your records! Over the years since then, I've followed your solo career, & Songs For A Tailor, Harmony Row, Out Of The Storm were all landmarks & milestones for me. I've a special soft spot for Lifetime too. And altho' we've had numerous bass maestro's over the years, surely all of them were influenced & shown the way by you, their forerunner. Special best wishes & regards to you now. Let's hear you continuing to make fine music for many, many more years to come. Oh, & I've heard that you've been writing & compiling your autobiography. I look forward to seeing that published. All the very best, Jack. Jeff.

Dear Jack,

I've been enjoying your talents since the mid-sixties. Just got in touch thanks to these semi-fantastic means and, to my dismay, read you've been feeling rough to say the least. First, I hope you're having a speedy recovery, and that the prospect of carrying on belittles the obvious inconvenience it causes you.

My wife fought, as only she knows how, and recovered from virulent rampant breast cancer (her third), diagnosed and treated from 2001 onwards. The twins we have, Donnachaidh and Drusilla, now five years old, motivated her to live - an old hack like me can always see things through by himself!

When she gets back from seeing patients in Nice I'll get her to write to you. She's a bio-psycho-therapist and can dig up the roots of an illness. Between you and me, booze, all sorts of smokes and other things are the likely blame-takers, but she can find the motivator behind the physical manifestation.

Apart from the selfish motivations of one who likes to listen to what you play, I sincerely hope you get back to a way of life that you can enjoy.

Regards, and admiration,

Duncan.

P.S. Never mind what the Aussies do to us today. We got past the starting phase of the tournament and made it to the quarter finals! Not bad for a wee country such as ours that has given the world more than it sometimes knows.............

Hello Jack!

I will not wish you, All the best or quick recovery; you don't need it! You are a very strong person and I have absolutely no worries abour your recovery. God put you on earth to do what you do. You do it excellenty! You are the model of a true composer and performer. To my knowledge you are the only real composer of our time. Sure, we have other composers but not with your passion and knowledge of music. You may tire of hearing refrences to Cream and the like; forgive them, they just love you and sometimes don't know how to express themselves. I know how: I have followed you and no other! You're not going anywhere! God has much for you to do. I think you know that.

JACK:GODSPEED WITH YOUR RECOVERY! WE NEED YOU BE AROUND TO SHOW BASS PLAYERS ALL OVER THE WORLD HOW THE BASS GUITAR SHOULD BE PLAYED. WHEN I THINK OF ALL THE DEBUT ALBUMS I'VE EVER HEARD THAT REALLY TURNED MY HEAD AROUND I WOULD INCLUDE "FRESH CREAM" AMONG THE LOT OF THESE,ALONG WITH "MEET THE BEATLES","FREAK OUT"(ZAPPA),"ARE YOU EXPERIENCED?",AND "CLIMBING"{MOUNTAIN}.I HAVE SEEN YOU PLAY WITH RINGO 3 TIMES AND REALLY ENJOYED YOUR SOLO RENDITION OF "THEME FOR AN IMAGINARY WESTERN" AT THE PINE KNOB MUSIC THEATRE IN CLARKSTON,MICHIGAN AS YOU BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES WITH THIS MOST POWERFULLY SPIRITUAL SONG. AT THAT SAME SHOW YOU ALSO RENDERED "I FEEL FREE" WHICH WAS EVEN MORE SPECIAL SINCE I NEVER WAS OLD ENOUGH TO SEE CREAM IN CONCERT. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SETTING SUCH A HIGH STANDARD OF QUALITY WITH YOUR BASS PLAYING AND YOUR SINGING. I FERVENTLY PRAY THAT SOON YOU WILL RETURN TO DETROIT TO GIVE A CONCERT,BUT FIRST YOU NEED TO GIVE THE NEW LIVER A TEST DRIVE! MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND DURING YOUR RECOVERY.YOURS TRULY,ROBERT ADAMS,JR.

I just want thank Jack for the inspiration and great records. He has a lot more to give and hopefully he will so. The liver transplant is a piece of cake for someone who has sweated blood and tears just to create music that have touched so many people world wide.

He has always kept himself to his ideals and thats what makes him such a great musical artist.

In todays world of corrupt record industries and hand made pop artists , we need someone like Jack to show what really needs to be done to be a part of music, inhaling music and exhaling music.

Don´t hit the road Jack, Get back , Get back Show where it´s at With a great comeback !!

Dear Jack :

My friends used to tell me , what the F--- are you doing wasting time with the Blues ? Nobody plays that stuff anymore .... Then I would pop out a album of John Mayall and then Cream , and say , you guys dig this stuff ? Always a yes popped out --- I'd say tell " Jack Bruce & company they are living the Blues on a new and exciting level " -- That always shut these fools down ,--- yeah tell them the Blues is a waste of time ---

Jack , I have played harp since 1954 , and when I heard your bass lines & harp lines it told me the Blues will always live with guy like you hammering out the truth ... God Bless you , the wonderful times spent listing to you & guys like you made the world a little better off that it would have been with out your input .....

Give us more thrills and chill man it still there burning and churning inside you and everyone else with ears & heart like me .

Jack,

I bought the new album this week, and visited the site to see if there are any forthcoming gigs. I was shocked to read of your health problems. Glad to hear the news of your recovery. Especially shocked as your voice and songwriting has never been better and you were on fine form on the P. Jones show recently. As a fan since Cream I am looking forward to more albums and gigs. Please! My signed photo still holds pride of place here in Bewdley...

Dear Jack,

Looking back on my life, I would have to say that you have been a primary influence on my life, on many levels, especially musically.

I mean, I am certain that my persective on life and music would be entirely different if I had not been so deeply moved by your work with Cream and Tony Williams, and by your unbelievably underrated solo work. My perview, my slant on the world has been affected to such an extent by your compositions, voice and bass playing that I cannot imagine a life without "Sunshine Of Your Love" or "Deserted Cities Of The Heart" or "White Room."

A friend of mine has come up with a brilliant new arrangement for "Sunshine Of Your Love" and I will include it on my solo album 'Head Noise'.

Right now, I just cannot get enough of "Rope Ladder To The Moon" of your wonderful 'Songs For A Tailor' album; and I am struck by how much you have influenced the likes of Sting and so many others, including the fabulous Chris Arters.

You have left your mark; and it is one I am proud to wear as a badge of honor.

I, myself, spent a decade and a half dying, and am only recently recovering. So, I can empathize with what you have been going through.

You have, though indirectly through your recorded songs and voice, been a mentor to me. And though I may not be a "star", I at least have the integrity and honesty of my creative self expression and can see that you are one of a very few artists who influenced me to be that way.

I doubt that I will ever have the joy of working with you on stage or the studio; and so I just want you to know that your artistry resonates with me and I wish you only good.

Your legency lives on in me and so many others.

Live on and create more..."on the road to dreams".

With the deepest respect and sincerity,

Christopher Quinn

To Jack & his family,

Our best wishes and prayers are with you. Happy you received the transplant & came through the operation OK.

Six years ago my wife received a transplant for Hepatitis C. She had a rocky road for a couple of years due to complications from steroids and anti-rejection drugs. The last 4 years have been good and the new liver's doing well.

Her advice is learn everything you can about your medications and their side effects to load the dice in your favor. This is a new frontier and the docs don't know everything yet. Hope you're at least as successful as her.

Warm regards, Bob

Hello Jack-

They say life is all about great tone, and no one has you beat. I've been listening to your Gibson bass distort those Marshall cabs since I was a 10 years old. The live stuff from the Fillmore is STILL UNMATCHED.

I'm a guitar player and when I describe the tone I'm looking for from a new bass player I say, "just play like Jack Bruce".

You, Eric and Ginger. Pure magic.

All these years have past, and I'm still fascinated by the Disraeli Gears cover. Always finding something new.

Timeless music. You should be proud Jack.

I wish you a speedy recovery and a life filled with love, peace, and happiness.

Jack,

I would only like to say how shocked I was to learn of your illness and how greatly relieved I am now to know you are on the road to health. When I first heard you laying into an EB-3 quite some time ago, I was inspired to put the piano aside and become a bass player. It was the best decision I ever made! Soon I not only had my own Gibson, but through the years picked up the upright bass and even a Warwick Thumb fretless, so the influence has always remained. A greater gift was the road to jazz and other forms of music, including the very eclectic collaborations with Kip Hanrahan - music that is always a part of everything I play.

I hope you are better, and I wish you the best of health. The recent triumph of "More Jack than God" only proves you have ever more to give us all.

Vaya con Dios, Greg Conway

Dear Mr. Bruce, I have based much of my study of the bass on your work both with rock and jazz. Like most of your fans, I love all creative work you did with Cream, but especially I enjoy your work with the Tony William's Lifetime and your solo albums. I missed you the last time you came to New York City and hope that, when you are restored to your full health, you will come back to New York!

Good luck on a speedy and successful recovery, Sincerely, Eric Silberberg

Memoir: about 1983 - foolishly agreed to support Mr Bruce at a small club in Bannockburn, me and my guitar and clarinettist. Rehearsing "Michelle" 3pm at the venue with our backs to the door. Suddenly accompanied by bass and drums, turned to see Mr Bruce and drummer had sneaked in. Apologised profusely for over-running my time - "Naw, son, I was enjoying that..." says Mr Bruce. In the kitchen just before the gig: looked out to find about 400 souls crammed into a 250 capacity room. By now I'm absolutely crapping myself, when Mr Bruce comes in and immediately puts me at ease. "You look nervous, son" he says: I reply "Have you seen the amount of people out there", and he says with a smile: "You get nervous when theres nobody out there...". Do the spot like a rabbit in the headlights, as we get down off the stage a punter claps the clarinettist on the shoulder, says "Gaun yersel, Acker...". Did I say "foolishly agreed to support Mr Bruce"? Of course not: it was a rare privilege. But when he came on, it was clear that God himself could have come down to do the first show and people would still have been looking at their watches. He was incredible. Bless you Mr Bruce.

Jack, Glad to hear you are well. You have been a gigantic influence on my life in both bass playing and singing, and are the reason I do both today. I am 26 years old and have grown up with your music (my mom was a big fan).

Take care of yourself and many years of success to come,

Eric A. Bowers

Dear Jack,

Just the thought that you would leave us is saddening but allows me to reflect on your influence as it relates to my abilities as a musician.

Having been a fan since the Murry the K show in NY in 1967 (I think, I can list those things that have influenced me and now my thirteen year old musical son.

Bass a a six string instrument (at least with Cream) Bass as a lead instrument with its own voice and character Improvisation in a rock environment. Song writing beyond I IV V. The abilty to be a multi-instrmentalist. The importance of playing and writing across many styles of music.

The list could go on. But you need to rest and I'm sure there are many more emails to read.

Just get better and continue doing all you do. Your influence shall not diminish and I hope at least through my son impacts the next generation of musicians.

Dear Mr. Bruce:

I pray this note finds you in strong spirit and improving health!

My best wishes and thoughts are with you. Your playing, singing, improvisations & compositions have great emotional depth and influence in so many musical genres. You are in your own subtle and under-stated way one of the all-time greats. I have a fond memory of seeing your early 1980's band (with Billy Cobham, David Sancious, & Clem Clempson) from the front row at my college in New Jersey... I'd already been a fan for years and that gig made me much more of a fan!

Get well soon, the music world needs people like you.

Respectfully, LF

Dear Jack,

I feel really out of it for not knowing what you have been going through. I have been a huge fan for years and you have been my biggest influence as a bass player. I am sorry to hear you had to go through such a difficult illness but am very glad to hear you are on the mend.

I have most of your albums and have seen you perform twice. My old band covered White Room and I tried to learn many of your songs.

Thank you for all of the great music you have given us and may God bless you and your family.

Sincerely,

John Durbin alias Dr. X
