I've seen J.B. in every lineup since Cream in 67. Post Wars & AS You Said are my favorites seen live! I play drums in a band and do some Cream standards. Does anyone have sheets on J.B. post Cream stuff. I remember once seeing a Songs for a Tailor songbook. Please write with info. Listen to Apostrophe with Zappa and Jim Gordon on drums!!

Jack Bruce has been my musical idol for many years and I've had the pleasure of meeting him many, many times and talking to him at great length. The first time I met him was on July 20, 1984 at My Father's Place in Roslyn where he personally dedicated "Morning Story" to me during the show! I collect EVERY recording Jack is associated with. Thanks for the website! Jack is the GREATEST!

Like so many others here, JB was my greatest inspiration to play bass for the last 30 years! Wheels did and still does it to me. I missed Cream but actually saw West Bruce and Lang at Radio City in NY, still one of the greatest thrills of my life. Still play and have an EB-O and an EB-3. Jack Bruce's influence on me got me into jazz studies and classical upright bass in college, made me quit when I found he was right about the teachers, got me into a few good bands, and got me kicked out many more bad ones.Funny that Clapton fancies himself a jazzer(the band he was in played fuzak)while he says Jack and Ginger are fakes.Does Clapton know that Kenny G. is not a jazz Musician?

I will never forget the first time I saw Jack with Cream,UNBELIVEABLE! At the end of the show we followed Ginger out to the limo's. My girl and myself stood in front of the limo until the cops dragged us away. As the limo went by Jack looked at me dead in the eye and smiled! I carry that smile with me to-day every time I hear his music. Thanks Man !

derek, i really like the sight, if you or anyone for that matter could help me out in finding jack's cds, and possibly getting some that arent on cd onto cd (much like the blind faith insident of 1997) i would really epriciate it. it has been a real pain finding them (and ginger baker cds) because either the bone-headed people here in san diego are just stupid and dont know who they are, or the importing of music is just really bad. but being as how i live in a large metropolitain area, im guessing im just looking in all the wrong places (record stores?). anyway, jack, im a huge fan, book some shows down here, i could spread the word you are comming, well, see you later...

As the worlds greatest Bruce fan next to Jeff Berlin....I love it! I'm now 42 and a pro bassist in my area. I'd have to say that Mr. Bruce is my single greatest influence for many reasons beyond his singular style. At an early age I did everything to emulate the man; same bass, amps, began singing, look, my ancestry is even scottish. His written words about self expression led me to develop my talent and to find my own voice. I gave up copying the man and instead took inspiration from his fearlessness and honesty. I am ever grateful to an inspiring performer. DC MorTone.

I have been playing bass for 27 years. The sound of Jack Bruce was what made me want to pick the bass up in the first place.

In 1967, My brother took a trip to San Francisco. When he came back, he was armed with all of these strange records. The Mothers of Invention, Jimi Hendrix, & Cream. Hendrix & The Mothers took a while to grow on me, but I was drawn to Cream right away. The music was powerful and the sound was different.

I remember listining to "Disraeli Gears" and thinking to myself "I know this sound. that's the guitar. I know that sound. that's the drums but what's this other sound?" I didn't know what it was but it sounded pretty cool. I found out that it was the bass and Jack Bruce was playing it and doing most of the singing. Once I heard the bass, I knew that this was the thing for me!

Jack, thanks for having the sound that drew me to one of the great pleasures of my life. I owe ya one. I hope I pay you back each time I play my bass.

Great site! I had to check it out after reading about it in Bass Player magazine. I listened to some clips from Jack's albums that I didn't have and I'm so impressed by the way Jack takes on any style of music and makes it his own. If this feedback gets anywhere near Jack Bruce I have this to say: Jack, you are a phenom and the reason that I began singing and playing bass. You truly are a creative genius.

If you are coming to NY maybe you would like to check them out and see how close they have gotten! Love to hear from you. Thanks for all the music. Debbie Paris

Dear Jack,

Like many others, I was introduced to Cream when an older sibling brought home a copy of Disreali Gears in early '68. I was 13, and for this shy, pudgy, rurally-sheltered teen (Little Falls is a small, "city" of 6,500 people, half-way between Albany and Syracuse, life was forever changed. I would have to become a bass player, and did. Heartbreak came with the news that Cream would disband. A National Day of Mourning was declared. Didn't hear about it? Damn hacks! You get what you pay for, eh? Subsequently, you have provided us with many years of musical enjoyment. Thank you for that. Very exicted to see you working with Ringo's All-Starrs. Ironically, Peter Frampton became an additional source of musical inspiration for me shortly after the demise of Cream. Unlike Peter, however, whom I've had the opportunity to see numerous times, and even meet, I've never had the opportunity to see you live. If you ever have the opportunity to book a show in Albany, Syracuse or Utica, NY, please do so. I'm sure I'm not alone here. If I may suggest a venue, consider the Van Dyck in Schenectady, NY. Saw Andy Summers there. Again, thank you for the music, the inspiration, and the time. Lastly, thank you Derek for making this possible. You've done a great job. Question: Whatever happened to the video of Cream's performance of Sunshine of Your Love on Glen Campbell's/Smothers Brothers Show? Would love to see it along with Cream's Hall of Fame appearance released on a video.

Hello to all you Jack fans out there and hello to you too Jack. I am new to the net having only connected recently. Since logging on to the JB sites I have been lobbying all my fellow Oz Brucers to support my push to get the JB Band to come to Oz, so get moving you lot. I have had some good responses and some help from people like Paul Fuller, Graeme Pattingale, Dennis Lawrenson and Alan Leslie in NZ and others, but we need those of you who read this to tell other JB fans to write in and also inform those who don't know about the JB web sites (like myself until recently) that there is a large network of fellow JB music lovers across the globe.

A note to you JACK, you have a large following in Oz who would love to see you here and although the mainstream heathens may not appreciate your music and come to your concerts I'm damn sure we could fill some venues with a very appreciative audience. We may even get a lot of people on the strength of your Cream reputation, whatever, as long as they come. Maybe you could come for a working holiday and get away from the European hustle and bustle and relax in our beautiful country, or talk Ringo into coming as that would attract some atention, or you could form a band with some other well knowns (some of your Ringo bandmates, Simon Philips, Gary Moore, Jeff Beck, EC, Terry Bozzio, Alan Holdsworth, Vernon Reid, etc..whoever you like) to spread the fan base and create extra interest as I realise that this needs to be financially viable to be possible. Whatever, you owe it to yourself to visit Oz at least once in your life, you may even fall in love with the place and decide to stay, as this is a great place and you would be very welcome, and while you're here we can all enjoy listening to your music live which most of us will never get to do if you don't come here. I will be sending a formal approach to your management to enquire about the possibility of you touring in the next couple of days, but was prompted to write this note to find out if you were even interested in visiting Oz. Please write a short response to me (at npwatson@powerup.com.au), your diary page or H.Row to say whether you like the idea and then if you do we will do some moving and shaking this end to try and make it happen. I've been waiting 30 years to hear you live and I know there are a lot of other older blokes like me here as well who would support a JB tour with great enthusiasm and thats not forgetting the younger people who enjoy your music also and I'm sure you would gain a lot of new fans as soon as they heard you.I look forward to your comments. Best regards, Noel Watson.

As another expatriate Glaswegian and trombone player from Pollok I've always appreciated enjoyed your contributions to the rock and jazz world. Every party I attended in the 60s had a Cream LP somewhere in the stack. My teenagers are now being influenced by you (one son on cello and the other on trumpet who is hoping I buy him a bass guitar). Anyhow ,Jack,we'll make a point of seeing you if you come to L.A. You, Alex Harvey and George Chisholm (originality) are truly Glasgow's sons.

Hey Derek :

The radio show last night was great. I taped the whole thing. The quality was pretty decent. I used the new beta G2 version of real audio.

I can still hear Jacks singing in "Post War" echoing in my mind. I love it !!

And what a version of Spoonful. Whoa !

I really liked his "english" on the last bar... "Lyin" "Cryin". It had an attitude in it I hadn't seen from him before. Great Stuff.

Thanks for your efforts in coordinating/arranging the show.

Great site!! Keep up the good work.

Jack:

I was just listening to "Live at Fulham Hall" the other day. It made me yearn for more JB-related jazz projects. Is there any chance that you may work again with Ian Carr or Jon Hiseman? How about Volker Kriegel or Mike Westbrook?

If you like Irish authors, check out J. Sheridan LeFanu (1814-1873; author of "In A Glass Darkly" and "Wylder's Hand.")

With Eric Clapton playing Calgary next week I started thinking back to my early formative years when Cream was the ONLY band worth listening to. I remembered Jack Bruce and how I liked the first couple of solo albums and then just lost track of his career. Surfing around the net I found this site and stupidly realized for the first time that Jack Bruce was Scottish. THAT implies that Jack is probably a descendant of King Robert the Bruce (as am I). Hey Jack! Hey Bro! How 'bout coming to Calgary and doing a show here. I'll buy dinner. Its the least I can do for a long lost relative.

Dear JB fans. I simply cannot believe that Gracham Bond Organization will appear finally on 4 CDs! It is unbelievable, and I want to have it NOW! I have heard that Ringo Starr released video from his 1997 tour. What about live CD? All the presented JB diary was great. Kind regards Gregory

Hey, am I still one of the only females to send comments? Thanks for writing to us, Jack!... Back in early 1980 I watched you rehearse for Saturday Night Live when I was working at NBC in NY. It was the only time I was too "awestruck" to speak. I would have said, "You have the greatest voice in Rock" but really your musicianship and poetry goes so much further than that. I want to say "Hi" and thanks and sorry for not talking when I had the chance but I was too frightened to speak. Silly. Looking forward to your next visit to the motor city. I'd like to say I suggest your Kip Hanrahan work to your other fans.

Fondly, Monica McCabe

What can I say... Saw Cream when I was 14 at there farewell concert, I was born too late! I have seen JB everytime he comes arroud, but I can believe I missed the All Stars. This is a great site, including Jack's diary...highly cool. Saw Jack at a bar in Delaware (The Other Side) not there any more. I was standing near the door where he came out. I called out "Yo Jack Babe", he turned looked at me and gave me a kind quintessentially Jack kind of half salute. Hope to see you soon.

Regards,

A fan

Hi Jack! Saw you three times in the late 60's in Phila. Pa. when you were in CREAM. I Miss CREAM!! Any news on a CREAM reunion? I always felt you had the better vocals between yourself & Clapton, and I like Clapton alot. Thanks for helping make my 60's a real trip.

Thank God for the Internet! What ever happened to Jack Bruce? Now I know! Your a minor diety, lad 8) Everybody's been on about Jaco for years, and rightly so, but you were pushing the envelope a decade or more ahead of the little twerp! I took up the Fender Jazz in the late 60s, having grown nonplussed with the trombone and thinking it important to stay in the same clef ... right. Live long and prosper, good sir!

G'Day Guys , Reading James' comments about Fender Jazz Basses some how reminded me of a BIZARRE incident about 2 years ago . I was packing my groceries at the supermarket one day . MUZAK was playing . Suddenly Badge was played . The bass player on the session played Jack's lines note for note ! I could not believe it . Strange but true . Was that you James ? See Ya Paul .

Interesting to read that Jack remembers Rockpalast w/ the Police & Graham Parker--I played drums with Graham and the Rumour and that happened to be our final gig ever. I've always loved Jack's voice and used to practice to Cream albums (& Harmony Row) much to the annoyance of parents & neighbours. Recently bought Escalator Over The Hill on cd which has a cast of thousands and which I can highly recommend for both musicianship & weirdness. Strangely, I come from Streatham where Jack recalls Cream's weirdest gig ever--I saw the Move there in 1968, but don't recall the Cream show--probably past my bedtime. I'm very glad Jack's still around, and still creative. er, that's it.

Dear Mr. Bruce,

I would like to thank you for unwittingly steering me into a career path which has made me very happy- as one of my favorite musicians ever, your music inspired me to become a professional luthier 21 years ago. In the past 2 years I've gotten my business into high gear, and have built a factory to produce my guitars in larger quantities. This year I have been honored to have one of my guitars appear on the cover of Guitar Player magazine, and several other guitar magazines have printed rave reviews about my Terry C. McInturff guitars. I am realising my dream(and it has been a TOUGH 21 years getting to it!) and I would once again like to thank you for so much inspiration and musical companionship over the years.

One final note- I would love to hear a really well recorded '90's version of "Ifeel free". If you ever have some spare studio time I hope that perhaps you will give it another go round.

With affection and respect,

Terry C. McInturff

Loved the site! 26 years a JB fan, 23 years a bass player, 5 years a record store owner, and about 20 years wishing I lived in Holland or Germany where my favorite artists like JB, Spencer Davis, Gerry Rafferty, Kip Hanrahan, et al., seem to have established themselves. But at least John Mayall swings thru once in a while, so it's not a total desert. PS DESPERATE FOR INFO on a Canadian singer-songwriter named IAN THOMAS who was recording about 1973-1986 in North America but who appears to have beamed off the planet. Is he over there? Anybody heard of him? If so please reply.

I would like to say a couple of things to anybody who listens. First, if Jack Bruce himself is listening I want to say that I think you are the greatest. I would also like to tell you that for four years I have dreamed about getting a bass guitar because of you. I finally got one and I plan to devote all the time in the world toward it. I saw him at Jones Beach with Ringo and the all-stars and I have to say that i was definatly blown away by the amazing performance from them all. I especially liked this one bass solo that was amazing as well. it seemed to light up the whole night sky with brilliance. I just want to say thank you for bringing me through some great time and bad. Altough you don't know it, but your music helped me through many problems as well as great moments in my life so far. thank you. -Brandon
