The 1st time I heard 'Sunshine' while in the Army, I loved Cream & Jack Bruce vocals & bass playing. I just bought your autographed 'Stagg' bass from 'Gotta Have It' website. You are the greatest, Jack Bruce!!!!

I was a Guitar player for 20 years until 5 years ago when I really listened to Jack Bruce play. I switched to bass and couldn't be more happier. I now own a 1966 EBO Gibson Bass with a 2005 Warwick Corvette Fretless. The sound and tone Jack get's is unbelievable. Thank You Jack. There will NEVER be another bass player like you. P.S. How about playing MSG again with the boys. Artie

Hi Jack Just wanted to say hello from a 1950s Brackenbrae boy from Bishopbriggs. Having missed you at The Locarno in Glasgow when you were playing with Cream all those years ago it was a delight to see your recent gig at the Albert Hall. I only wish i could have been there in person but the DVD will have to do for now. Sadly i have not seen you play live since that great gig you did with Lifetime at the Maryland Club again in Glasgow. Any chance of you doing some more appearances soon? Wishing you all the very best, Albert Sharpe

Greetings Mr. Jack (Simon) Bruce,

I just want to say It makes me smile and feel proud, that after all these years you and Cream still kick ass!. Of course I,ve wathced you all, for years (being a transplanted Scot)relocated from Canada to California in the 60's with my parents. You took us all from Beatles and Stones to Heavy Rock N Roll. then and now , you are the CREAM! of British Rock. Your vocal ability though, stands apart from the rest. You are a truly gifted vocalist and musician and I'M SO Glad to have seen you on film and at the Anaheim Convention Center with West, Bruce and Lnag and the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano twice and I,ve made it long enough to be able to send you this email at age 51. Thank you SIR for the music you gave the WORLD! I,m A true 60's survivor and a SCottish Fan, living in California! (Still,in 2006). Job well done Cream in 2005...give my Cheers to the band!

Recently I bought an early 1966 Cream Promotional leaflet and I trying desperate to find out, who made the "bubble-lettering on the front of promo. The same sort of lettering you can find on this site regarding the Wrapping paper single. See link below for 1966 Promo. I know that all PR for Cream at that time was made by a company callel Paragon Publishing but its hard to trace data about 40 year old productions... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6603789741&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:UK:31 Best Regards Patrick Smith

I discovered Cream in 1969 after they had disbanded. I listened to an album called Best of Cream and my life has never been the same. I went out and bought everything Cream had produced. Brilliant. 37 years later I still love Cream.

Best song ? Hard. The first time I heard Crossroads off Wheels of Fire blew my mind. It was the first thing I put on my MP3 player.

I wonder if anyone will read this.

Don't care it had to be said.

Jack and Rory Gallagher are on the new 'complete Rockpalast' 3 box DVD of Rory, playing 3 songs. Two are on Cream albums, 'Born under a bad sign' and an amazing version of 'Politician'. The other is the Muddy Waters classic 'I'm Ready'. Turn the volume up and see the two Master play - unmissable !

Mr. Bruce - More Jack than ? What's that you say? I love it & you & all the music you've given us. (reference prior posts)I'm also a bassist from the NY area,in large part because of you. Live Cream II Deserted Cities of the Heart is perhaps the greatest live rock trio song recorded. I adopted my EB-1 baby after Felix introduced us. Do you think of him when you play it? Or please make any further comment on this most perfect electric bass instrument.I hope you stay well and continue to record with Cream.

Thanks again - Peace, Love & Understanding

I was in Florida last week on vacation and while out one night we happened upon a band covering Crossroads. The guitarist was very, very good but there was something lacking in the background. Of course, that thunderous bassline, a true classic if there ever was one, much imitated but never quite duplicated, was missing! That's Jack Bruce's genuius. There's plenty of Clapton wannabees out there, and some of them aren't bad either, but there is only ONE Jack Bruce and the imitators don't even come close.

When I read (two months ago now?) that more Cream reunion shows are planned, I almost did cartwheels in my room. Thank you, and thank EC and Ginger, for doing a few mo' for those of us who didn't make it to RAH or MSG. You can be damn sure that this time I will be there to see Cream kick some serious ***.

Also, I think I said it before, I'll say it again: I hear the West Coast is in the cards this time. I hope you three will consider coming back to the San Francisco Bay Area. The Fillmore's a little small for you guys...but GOLDEN GATE PARK looks really nice.

I don't remember the exact year, but an older guitar playing friend of mine turned me on to the album "Fresh Cream". I was in a trio myself, and he said "check this out". Fresh Cream changed my entire musical outlook, approach & direction. In homage to Cream, my band's name was later changed to "Disraeli Gears". Of course we were just a local act and could have never used that name on any professional level. Still, at the teen nite clubs, high schools, private parties, etc. that we played, a lot of the people didn't know where the name came from. (It was about 1968, AM radio was still alive and well, and in Nebraska, Cream didnt get much air play.) Now when I go back to Nebraska for High School reunions, there are still a hand full of people who remember "Disraeli Gears" (my band) and comment on how ahead of our time we were. We werent ahead of our time, I had just been exposed to Jack, Eric, and Ginger, and emulated you guys as best we could. Still to this day, I never get tired of hearing "Crossroads". It's as fresh to me now as it was the first time I heard it. Thanks so much for all of the music, and may God bless you and yours Jack!

Few would know that Harmony Row is a road in Glasgow. As a Scot, I lnow that the bass appeals to the Celt in everyone. Jack, your playing is and always was totally musically fulfilling; it also has the adrenalin factor which few can find on the bass. You have inspired every generation of bass players since you came on the scene, and will for a long time yet. Thanks for that.

Dear Jack

I remember going to see Cream I think in 1966 in London (Manor House and Edmonton). I was blown away (though that phrase wasn't around at the time!) by the band - so loud and so exciting. I was also stupidly in love with you Jack (well I was 16 already) and loved your face, your voice and bass playing. Eric and Ginger faded into the background by comparison. I'm pretty sure it was pre-Disraeli Gears, so must have been the early days of Cream. Watching the Classic Album DVD and concerts brought it all flooding back and the songs are constantly bouncing around my head (esp. We're Going Wrong and Tales of Brave Ulysses). Thanks for those memories when things were awful at home but I could escape into those beautiful songs. Glad you've beaten your illness and are back as strong as ever.

Here's to you and yours, Jack

Colette

I was in Jr. High or there abouts, when I first heard Jack Bruce play bass,it really shook my whole view on music, then, I heard Cream, the way Jack's bass and Ginger's drums interplayed with Eric's guitar really made an all new plane of music, soon to be called heavy metal. That's when myself and my friends became rock and rollers. Thank you Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker and Eric Clapton for the memories, God bless to all. With respect,Max, Bobby, and all. God bless.

It was because of Jack Bruce that I started playing Bass Guitar in September 1975, and the 1st two songs I taught myself were "Sunshine Of Your Love" and "Crossroads". Thanks to Jack, I also discovered other great Bassists such as Percy Jones, Jaco Pastorius and Stanley Clarke. I owe you an awful lot , Jack. Thank you so much for making the world stop and listen to the Bass Guitar as the beautiful instrument that it is. Long may you make music, my friend.

Hi, Happy birthday for the 14th May Jack, and many more to follow. I'm sure you will have a great day. Hard to believe that this time a year ago I had taken my first trip outside of Australia to go to London. It was something in my life I had to do. Not Just to see 2 incredible Cream concerts but to see Jack Bruce. I also met and hung out with a number of people from all around the world, that we only new each other through email over the years and The (Oz based Cuicoland Express E-Newsletter. I also had the opportunity to see the great Pete Brown perform twice and had a chat with him as well as doing a bit of roadie work for the band when they were setting up for there London Hard Rock Cafe gig. London put on it's best Autumn weather on as well for some great sight seeing. What a wonderful experience it was. I feel very privalidged. Thanks Jack and to all the special people I met.

Dear Jack, I'm 48 years old now, when I was 15, a friend took me to a cinema in a very small german town, and it was a concert-film of cream, i did not know, what expected me, until that day i had listened only to most simple germen pop music, the music of cream at first was terrible for me, i was sure, that that had nothing to do with music, but your voice and your singing and your bass-plaing, and the playing of eric clapton and the solo of ginger baker on toad brought me to music, and there is no day, i do not thank to you and eric clapton and ginger banker for this!!! Your music opened my ears for the rest of my life, and when listening later on to jazz music, i found - you! For example with Michael Mantler and so on.... Since about ten years it is my strong wish, once to organize a concert with you together with phil minton, phantastic "singer" too, i'm sure, that would be great!!! All the best, fun and good health from Hamburg!!!

Happy Birthday Jack. I was suprised to know that we share the same birthday. I have been enjoying your reunion DVD from the Royal Albert Hall. Got a copy of your farewell tour from Royal Albert Hall recoreded in 1968 for my birthday. It is amazing to see them both back to back and how your voice has not changed over the years. I wish you guys would have played a fwe more dates here in the stats. I wish you a long and healthy life.

Happy birthday Jack hope you and the family are feeling well.I have been a fan since i heard cream. I first saw you live at the Rainbow with WBL. Missed the mighty Cream live unfortunately but have done my best to make up for that over the following years, from bomb scares at Victoria to the heat of the Crystal palace bowl and in more recent years the Jazz cafe and Shepherds Bush(probably my favourite) and quite a few in between. Still chuckle to myself about being frisked for cameras etc going to the Jazz cafe and then being promptly tapped on the shoulder by a young japanese girl who wanted a photot taken,i was just about to tell we would both get beaten to a pulp and shown the pavement when i saw her hugging YOU!!!. Completly tongue tied i took the photo and you disappeared before i could think of something to say(typical) never got a copy of my masterpiece either. After the superb Shepherds bush show i raced down to Bournemouth to catch you at the pavillion the following night but you had to cancell. i think you left your voice at the empire,i nearly hurled myself off the pier at the news. Looking forward to seeing you again soon (with cream????)as its been almost a year since the DHS show far to long mate i need my JB fix. Hope you read this

Jack - Happy be-lated 63rd Birthday. Sorry I'm a bit late sending you wishes. Hoping all is well with you and your family and continues that way. I've been reading your biography "Jack - by Steven Myatt" finding it nice to learn more about how your career progressed. Also I just picked up the DVD “Jack Bruce at Rockpalast” from WienerWorld.com and as with all your music, I find it great and a rare treat to see you in a solo performance especially singing Tickets to Waterfalls (one of my all time favs). You’ve given me a lifetime of enjoyment from all your music and I just want to thank you for sharing it with me (and us fans). It was great seeing you in the Cream re-union although I felt you were a little laid back in your playing, almost opposite from the Cream days when your jams always seemed faster paced and like you were always trying to show EC who the boss was (not complaining at all, but I’ve seen you kick it up many times more so than the Cream show). Either way, your still the BEST and can’t wait for your next new release. Again, hope all is well and stays that way for you and your family. Allan, Methuen, MA, USA.

Dear Jack,I came to see you play in 1968 and my life changed dramaticaly from then on.You gave a lonely, only child inspiration and long distance mentorship via your music.I became a bass player and have many happy memories of basses owned and gigs played and friends made.I was given for my 53rd birthday the Cream reunion dvd and was moved to tears when all the memories came flooding back.In it you said that after your illness you realised that playing together again was important as life passes by so quickly, which has prompted this email.Jack thank you for everything youve done for me even though you dont know me.Keep well and happy.Steve

The two greatest bassists in rock: Cream's Jack Bruce, and Mountain's Felix Pappalardi, had more in common than just their instruments. They had a musical connection that brought them together,on several different projects, over the years--and the fact they both played bass, and were masters of it,did not get in their way of making meaningful music,as they even performed each other's songs!....I wonder: what would have been,if Felix had lived longer,or if Jack had produced Felix' albums?...All that matters now,is that Jack is healthy, and happy, and fully recovers from his transplant!....Thanks for all the years of wonderful music,Jack: From Graham Bond-to-Manfred Mann, from Cream-to-your solo-stuff,to West,Bruce, and Laing(which is you in Mountain, instead of Felix, but it is different, while much the same). To the fans of Jack Bruce, and readers of this: listen to Jack sing Felix' song "World of Pain",then listen to Felix sing Jack's song "Theme For An Imaginary Western".Listen to Jack sing "Theme" on his first solo album, produced by Felix--or,Jack sing "World" on the first Cream album that was produced by Felix, and you'll know the beauty of song that can't be put into words here!......

To Happy Jack (belatedly) on his birthday, even Jack the Bruce! Undoubtedly, the trek from a thousand and some k's below the Arctic Circle to MSG on Oct.05 was well worth it. Seeing you and the King of Pound, Ginger Baker, the Poundmaker, together again with Sir Eric, the Royal Knight of Guitar, was the goodness of a loving God. The Creamian synergy remains. The Cream Team, individually and together, were stellar. That place was electric in the Big Apple.Exuberance was everywhere, shown by the spontaineous dancing, loud bursts of frequent applause and other joyful expressions. New York fully embraced Cream. Would I have made the nine hour trek from the tarsands city if it was just yourself or Ginger or just Eric playing? No. But seeing that potent force re-emerge, made the journey well worth it in every way to experience Cream live! At 63, Jack you have many years left yet to create and play music. The late world renowned composer and pianist, Vladimir Horowitz, absolutely nailed a most difficult piano concerto while in his late 70's. May Cream likewise flourish. The world again will then stand up and give its grateful applause - with tears and with hands clapped sorely red.

Appreciatively, John Flanagan

Hello Jack, I just want to take this opportunity to thank you for your many contributions to popular music and, of course, for inspiring me to become a bass player. I have been playing the bass guitar since 1985. I first learned to play along with "I'm So Glad" from Goodbye...this is where I began my education on improvisation. I listened to Cream while everyone else was listening to Duran Duran. Currently I am the lead singer/bass player/songwriter in a Canadian power trio called Volume Water. Our website is www.volumewater.com. Thank you Jack for your voice and powerful bass playing. John Mamone

In the early '70's you were scheduled to play with Lifetime at my school in Maine (opening for the Byrds). You didn't show up and the word was that someone advertised the band as Tony Williams Lifetime and you were pissed. The Byrds were happy that you weren't there although Lifetime wasn't. Listening to your music, and reading your interviews, you sure don't seem like the egotistical a-hole everyone claimed you were. Have you changed or were they just wrong? My compliments on a very fine career. I don't hear it mentioned often, but your work on Lou Reed's album "Berlin" was so fine!
