Just finishing Composing Myself at the moment and it reminds me that hearing Cream and Jack's solo albums was the reason I took up the bass in 1976. I have played a Columbus Jazz Copy with the frets ripped off ever since - with Jack's playing [mixed up with Jaco's] in the back of my head. In 1977 I saw Jack with the How's Tricks band at the Oxford Polytechnic as it was then. He was doing battle with a new fretless bass and it was see through! - perspex or something! Whenever I am playing with someone else for the first time, Crossroads is often the tune which brings it all together on common ground. I like the fact that JB is an individual and his music crosses boundaries, into jazz and classical. One of the great musicians and possibly the greatest bass player ever?

Dear Jack, It would be an honor if I was to meet you. I was inspired by you Musicianship and creativity very early on (1969-1972) and as a result took on learning to play the four string Bass for my very own. At the formost of experssion your style has always given me the interest to reach for the dynamic...I must say my favorite times listening to you was when you were playing with Leslie West and Corky Lang...( The Doctor!). You Voice has always inspired me to reach for the soul. Thank you for the spirit and the fun I have enjoy being a Musician...at times it has been a savior to me and you helped me down it's path with great joy. To your health, love of music and Family... ...one freind among many...Sincerely... Burt Kinney Arthur

Jack was the major musical influence during my teenaged years. I'm 59 now and finally have the wherewithall to travel and experience my past (and perhaps forever) heros live. However, Jack seems to have only one gig in California this year, and that being in Oakland which is quite a drive. Are there any projected performances in Southern California this or next year in Southern California or vicinity? I missed the Cream reunion of a few years ago. Thank you.

I had the privilege of hearing you perform live back in 1968,at the old Back Bay Theater in Boston, Massachusetts. Oh yeah, there were a couple of other guys with you, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker. I remember being disappointed when Cream later broke up, but strangely yours were the only albums I remember purchasing after that, of the three of you. Sorry I missed you when you came through Columbus, Ohio a few years back. Any plans to come this way again?

jack, thanks. you have a way of bringing our drunkeness to the front, providing meaning to the madness of mind; we drink and smoke and whatever else we do to try and form meaningful thoughts................., never mind. You have the style of expression (you and robin these days especially), you allow us to remember what r&r is supposed to do(dream of greatness; maybe that's just me),but we're all guilty of the same thing, I think. We all want to be you guys. And if that's all I've got, I'll settle. Rock on, Greatness. Tell that other awesome f...er with the guitar that I said hi. And thanks again-

I had the great pleasure of seeing you play at the Blue Note 8pm Sunday show last week and had an excellent time.It was such a relief when I heard the announcement about the band's existence and that NYC was in the schedule.I thought it was so important for that music to get out into the air and for you to be doing it.I love that stuff so much.It was good to hear it in a club and at a volume that didn't exceed Jimi Hendrix!! The band did a wonderful job covering the hardest band in the world to cover.I loved how you sang"There Comes a Time."Beautifully done.....and such a cool song.I knew Cindy when she was a teenager and it was so nice to be able to say hello. What a drummer!Sorry I didn't get to talk to you,but yes, that was me sitting on the higher level of seats.Hope you enjoy the rest of the tour dates with the band.P{lease do not hesitate to do it again! Many blessings to you.

Empty Rooms - Gary Moore R.I.P. Saw Gary with Jack on a number of occasions - always excellent playing, usually from the Cream repertoire. He knew how to acknowledge the spirit of the song, without copying Eric's solos. He also recreated "I feel free" perfectly with Jack - something Eric didn't attempt at the re-unions. He'll be sadly missed.

I saw Jack with Ronnie Scott's Blues Experience on Saturday night in the Arches in Glasgow. Fantastic seven piece band. The brass section allowed him to play some old favourites such as "Never Tell Your Mother She's Out of Tune" and an old Graham Bond number "Neighbour, Neighbour". Some of the audience didn't seem to realise that Jack has had a 43 year career after Cream as all they wanted to hear was "Sunshine". I thoroughly enjoyed the gig but what a horrible venue. Old brick railway arches with no seating. You could hear the trains rumbling overhead!

I had the absolute honor last month to meet Jack Bruce, however briefly, after the show at the Blue Note in NYC. As my wife said to Jack as she took a photo of us together, which is now being framed, "This is the thrill of a lifetime for my husband." And it was! What a nice, gracious man. Jack's music, from Fresh Cream on, has always been part of the fabric of my life. Many people have written songs, Jack has created a "Music". All of art is an attempt to interpret the world that we live in, whether it be painting, or literature, or music. Jack's music is, to me at least, a pretty fair interpretation of life as most of us experience it. Hence, the number of people who find the music of Jack Bruce so inspiring. How many other musicians can lay claim to that? I firmly believe, that when we are all dead and gone, and the history of "real" Music is written -- you will find the name of Jack Bruce enshrined with the likes of a Tony Williams, Charlie Mingus, Charlie Parker, Glen Miller, Beethoven and Bach. And many other musicians who are popular now will be relegated to footnotes, if that. Jack is what Music is all about-- Integrity of purpose, and never selling out on it. For that, Jack, thank you, from all of us second rate musicians on Main St. who have always been inspired to reach a little higher musically because of what you have done. I know you will not remember me, but I will always remember the time that I met Jack Bruce. Good health and God Bless, Jack (from more of us than you might realize.)

Dear Jack They've just played 'Tales of Brave Ulysses on 6music. Now I've always loved the track, but it's always irritated me that the music demands that the stress falls wrongly on the word Ulysees, Then it occurred to me that Odysseus WOULD have scanned perfectly. Did Peter Brown never consider this? And if rejected, why? Sorry for coming across as indescribably petty but it's something that's always bugged me Chris

Mr. Bruce, Your voice and bass technique have always been an inspiration, even to a drummer. I met you when I worked at a little music store here around 1988. You purchased a Heritage Archtop guitar after playing the chords from "As You Said" on it. I was speechless although I recognized the song immediately. I thought it "uncool" to reveal how thrilled I was to meet you. Just wondering if you still have the guitar although I wouldn't expect you to remember the occasion. Hi Jack !! Just a few lines to remember your incredible performance in Sevilla, october 1991, the guitar legends nights, before the expo 92. You played with Phil manzanera from Roxy Music three songs: "Sunshine of your love","White room" and "The city of gold". A brief, but superb show, that I keep in my retine because I was there; you and roger waters the following night. Who was the drummer that played in the band that night ( a bald guy) who also joined eric clapton for the 24 nights tour in 1991 ?

Jack, Myself and some friends were treated to a brilliant evening of superb bass playing and singing by yourself at the sold- out gig, Falmouth Pavilions on Sat 19 March. All of us were so impressed with the you and the band, the version of Spoonful, my second favourite track of all time, that was given a real work out and I was not disappointed by the lead work and of course, your sublime fretless bass playing. I managed to see you some years ago at Portsmouth Guildhall with, Glenn Huges and Frank Marino, all came out after the gig and signed stuff and chatted to everyone, you signed my CD`s album notes of Wheels of Fire and Shadows in the Air, a wonderful evening. But, this Saturday, I was fortunate for you to have signed my guitar, the Vintage SG, FOOL, I was so pleased when opened up the case and saw that you had signed it, may thanks. Then later in the bar, the rest of the band also penned their names on it. Great evening, great band, a real icon . And to think you played on my fav guitarist of all time, Frank Zappa, Apostrophe, just brilliant. Denis P Gibson.

I miss some words, but that does not matter.I am not upset, but after writing some text,I just had tried out the Clearout! button to see what would happen and indeed so it all had been cleared out ! So I mentioned Clearout! I have always felt strongly attracted by that song, though at the age I heard so I in fact had not much reason to share the feelings expressed in it as I hear it and I never was such an angry young man. Always had more or less still summer in my head in those days, but now I see more clearly. I am feeling so angry and helpless in this world.Of course there are more good people in the world, but we cannot change anything at all in what's going on and that's really killing me. I don't know what made me follow you.Sometimes I regret I wasn't there at the BBM gig, that afterwards represent for me most the Cream as I liked to hear. Later I had not such good feelings at a gig by Gary Moore.I don't know why.I don't complaint. But I wonder.I cannot analyse music that way. Well,it's time for Clearout. Think there is good reason to anger. Clearout !

Hello Jack, A fan and student of your music, as a gift to myself and tribute to your profound musical gifts to the JB fan base, I have charged myself with learning Victoria Sage, in its entirety. I am wondering where I might receive, either from you or elsewhere, the accurate tablature and chord arrangements with notation for Victoria Sage. I wish you best of health and may your creativity continue to inspire for years to come. One question: Was Pete Brown on acid when he wrote these lyrics to VS? Cordially, Eric J. Jack, You changed music for me when I first heard your bass in 1966. It has always been magic for me. In 1999 I had liver transplant. I am in excellent health 11 years later. Still listening to your sounds. I hope I get to see you play someday. -William--

Happy Birthday, Dr. Bruce! (Is it now triple doctor???) I hope this year continues to bring you honors and opportunities. I am enjoying your BBC interviews and learning more about what drives your musical impulses (like that you see singing as acting - no wonder your voice is so expressive). I have had a new tradition since receiving your new album through the Music Project. Each day I drive my son to and from the conservatory where he is a second year viola performance major (a 26 round trip). There has been a lot of bad weather this year - lots of snow and thunderstorms. When the going gets particularly rough, I say to myself "This is a job for the Cuicoland Express!" If living through jams like the one in White Room (and always wondering if you guys are going to make it back from the musical brink) doesn't give me courage, nothing will. Now I am looking forward to an album from Spectrum Road. Keep healthy and peace to you. Sheri, your fan from the classical side....

Im grateful for this web page. I am a long time fan. Although I have been disconnected to Jack's music over the past decade, Ive never stopped admiring what I consider one of the finest artists Ive ever had the pleasure of listening to. I just got done viewing many clips on youtube and I look forward to rediscoving some of the old and delight in hearing some of the music I am not familiar with. Thank you Jack, for all you have done and will do for the world of music.

I was too young to see you when you came to Ottawa in 1968 and am now so sad that I missed the opportunity. I turned the volume up to 11 and rocked in my living room, introduced the dog to great music. I hope that your concert with Bonamassa goes rip roaring fantastic. Dear Mr Bruce. I wonder whether you might consider a concert at this end of the planet? If Messrs Clapton and Baker accompanied you, more to the good. As for venues, there is a football oval (Australian Rules of course) in Franklin, on the beautiful Huon river, or possibly the Ranelagh showground near Huonville. Seriously though, my DVD of the 2005 concert, Albert Hall is getting somewhat threadbare - many a Friday nights viewing with a couple of tinctures, plus or minus an exotic cheroot or two - is wearing the bastard out. Hope its still available if replacement becomes necessary. Meantime, I'm reminded of my student days in Edinburgh in the late sixties whenever I watch. Saw John Mayall in Hobart last year. Got his autograph. (How embarrassing is that!). (Dr - poor - no private practice ) John Bernard Conlon.

Jack-I would love for you to do some interviews on NPR in the US (National Public Radio) who archive their programs with excellent video and text. PBS is similar. Bruce was a very good friend of mine and we were in many bands together in the 60's and early 70's. I am also a bass player and my "style" is heavily influenced by your playing. Saw the Cream play two sets two nights in a row at the Whiskey a Go Go, and my life was never the same since. He had told me of your friendship, but never bragged. He was one of the best drummers I ever had the pleasure to know. We called him "Mad Dog" because he was just that on the drums. Thank you for your post. JP

Greetings, Jack (the Bruce) In my youth, I brought 'Are You Experienced' into the house. My sister brought 'Disraeli Gears' to the turntable feeling she had trumped me. Plainly I asked her,'how could anything be better than Hendrix?' Her reply, 'listen, you'll see.' I scoffed at her outrageous response. Eventually however, we were listening to each others album with the owner unawares. A truce was soon established whereby we would have unlimited access to each others records. One of the dreams of Jimi Hendrix was to establish an electronic church. His sudden death unfortunately stopped it from happening. A common interest of you both Jack, I believe is helping under privileged children. What better place exemplifies the need than E.A.C.H.? You will though be glad to know that a number of hopeless cases of children in England, at least according to the doctors, did indeed fully recover. One darling belle, a 3 year old, at death's door, not expected to make it through the week, is now a highly energetic, completely healthy 5 year old. Her parents who spent thousands of pounds trying to save their little girl are now living in Colorado Springs, U.S.A. They sold their business in England and moved the entire family to America, to the home base of the organization responsible for their daughter's cure. That organization is the Andrew Wommack International Ministry. They chose to do this to help other families everywhere benefit as they have. Thousands of people have been healed and even some raised from the dead. His own son, Peter, had been brought back to life after the hospital had pronounced him dead and placed his body in the morgue. When Andrew Wommack was informed of his son's death he again prayed believing in the name of Jesus, the Messiah. His son's body then sat up on the hospital gurney , the death sheet sliding down to his waist and jubillantly he remmoved his toetag. A great celebration soon followed going throughout the hospital: some believing including the doctor who pronounce him dead; some not, calling it a hoax, while others just marveled, like the hospital staff who knew hours ago in the morning that this same Peter was dead and in the morgue. Always there are naysayers concerning matters of faith and miracles. Yet many thousands of people have been healed worldwide through Andrew Wommack's organization including aids patients and others with so called incurable diseases. Half the planet, 3.5 billion people worldwide can see his program on a daily basis. His website is awim.net There is such a huge demand on his services that his current facilities are proving inadequate. His expansion plans will cost over 40 million dollars. If you and Ginger along with Eric, Bob Dylan, U2, Garth Brooks and Beyonce just to name a few, would like to hold a benefit concert then people world wide would gain. Call it, 'Cream and Friends Benefit Ensemble'. Sounds crazy? 'All things are possible to him that believes.' -- Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah Oh and Jack , I am believing God that he will bring you to your 80th birthday and beyond before you go back to Him.You will see your grandchildren. Personally, I and no doubt hundreds of millions of people worldwide would love to hear another Cream album with brand new songs. 'Fresh Cream 2' Gratefully, John Flanagan

Hey Jack, I think you were always awesome! Didn't know about your work until many years ago my friend Pat Foley went running across the shop shouting "turn it up" when he heard Tales of Brave Ulysses on the radio! My 15 year old son is now playing your music, he is a bassist and guitar player too!

G'day Jack I chatted to you once at Keele services on the M6 in the late 1960s. It was after Cream and the Bonzo Dog Doodah Band together gave the best show ever at the university or anywhere else. Rumour had it that Ginger Baker stole a spit-roasted pig. Do you have any memories of that gig? 'We're Going Wrong' is my all-time favourite song. The early versions were wonderful, as was the 2005 reunion performance. The only competitors for my number one choice are Dylan's earliest 'Hattie Carroll' and the Sugar Cubes 'Deus' or 'Cold Sweat'. Well done for surviving a liver transplant. I may need one soon, but I might choose to fade away into the eternal night. Keep well, keep plucking (know what I mean?) and keep singing! Bootlebarth

I'm a 60 year old guy who has listened to must of what's important that you have made. (When I grow I want to be like you). I'm not so an intelligent person to play bass instruments like a pro even I never had money to buy one, so I took the road of a listener. I listen to any kind of music and I recognice that your music is one that I have come to colect. So, you have great tone and aproach to music!, creating songs triping around bass not every body do or have done that(Congratulations). I'm tryin not to write boring, and hope not.The coment comes because this is an oportunity to get to say somethin to a person that thinks deeply and maybe can read somethin that can get your attention for a moment and still be entertained in an other way. I live in Puerto Rico. The smallest island of the mayor islands in the caribean. Just near Spanola. This is the land of diferent dancing stiles and I don't have to tell more because you Know Salsa and Regueton that musicians from here do and practice. We are very romantic people and have our oun music that I invite you to search for. Maybe, you have known the music of Willie Colon from New York.It is a good start. Talk to him he can tell you more of what is important to listen to form this island. The music of Spanola and Cuba are other stories, and you know when you got to their thing , but I think you'll enjoy also the music of Puerto Rico.I'm not important I'll never get to be a good profesional musician but I think that what I'm saying could entertain you. Take care of your lungs do exersice. SEE YOU SOMEDAY by and by..........
