My late Husband, Andrew J. Kennedy, and I had the privilege of seeing Jack perform during his stint with the Ringo Starr All Starr Band. Jack's performance was awesome and the highlight of the show. His voice and basswork on the classic Cream songs phenomenal, and caused us to rediscover the majesty of his music. It was one of our most memorable concert experiences. May God bless Jack.

Such a sad loss. I saw Jack in Hamilton in around 1970, and again in Perth last year and he enthralled both times. I'll always be listening to him, like lots of other people, so a wee bit of him will survive in our hearts as well as his family's. My thoughts go to those close to him.

I never met nor knew Mr Bruce, but I admired his work with Cream, Alexis Korner et al. Such was his repute that, when he parted from 'the other two' my buddies and I were first in the queue to buy 'Things We Like.' If memory serves, he bought a small Scottish island, off the North East coast. "The peas are boiled to death."

Grew up in London in the 60s and was lucky enough to see Cream at Royal Albert Hall in '68. Thanks largely to Jack's contribution they are still my favourite band and can't stop listening to the many versions of Politician and Sleepy Time Time in my car. What an absolute musical genius who will be forever missed and never forgotten.

It hit me like lightening when I turned the page in Rolling Stone; I was blessed to see Jack with Spectrum Road at Yoshis, three days in a row! Up close and personal, what a joy. Playing violin and bass in school, then hearing Jack and Eric....like so many others. My beloved inspiration, thank you from the bottom of my heart, sunshine indeed!

I was addicted to Cream(who wouldn't be for god sakes)and Jack Bruce was the soul of that group. When "Songs for a Tailor" came out I was in Heaven ! I was fortunate to see Jack perform several times over the years, in clubs...the best venues to see him like being ringside...always singing his ass off with such gusto & passion... and playing his bass like a boxer always knocking me out !Such a talent...So where is Mr. Bruce now...I will bet he is on a "Step Ladder To The Moon...with a "Ticket To The Waterfall" vowing to "Never Tell Your Mother She's Out Of Tune"...God bless your family and God you Mr. Bruce...you are and will always be... without a doubt The Man !!! from just a fan.. but oh what a fan !!! What a great musician period. I have been listening to Jack Bruce since day one. Crushed by his passing. Took me awhile to accept it. But I shall continue to put him on - as part of Graham Bond, Cream, his solo efforts (i.e. Songs For A Taylor, Harmony Row) - plus his great collaborations with Leslie West and Robin Trower. To me, Jack Bruce was one of the last of the "independents" - challenging musical directions - with superb bass playing and unique vocals - not to mention his creative songwriting. Rest in peace. But Jack, your music is still regularly played out here in my house - in the Imaginary Western!

I saw Cream in 1966 at the Mecca Locarno Ballroom in Stevenage. The place was nearly empty and being young and ignorant I didn't realise or appreciate what I was seeing and hearing. A couple of years later I completely understood after hearing 'sunshine of your love' etc. Then last year I was pleased to see that Jack was going to be appearing at The Gordon Craig Theatre Stevenage and booked to see him. Sadly the show was cancelled and I guessed it was because Jack was ill. I'm so sorry for his family and friends and sorry I never got to see him again. I love his voice X

I grew up in Rome. Jack Bruce and band came to play at Teatro Brancaccio (on tours web page on this site it says that it was January 72 but the name is misspelled into Teatro Broncaccio). I was still 13, it was my first "rock" concert (although rock doesn't define that group properly). At they time I was a fan of Cream but also of the English jazz scene. As a first it was of course an amazing experience, and I have been a fan since. Jack will remain in my heart forever, and will live through his music. Thanks Jack! Marco

Long term fan since first hearing the 'Live at the Filmore' album from 'Wheels of Fire' c.1968. Saw J.B. With Tony Williams 'Lifetime' at Bournemouth Winter Gardens c. 1969. Was inspired by J.B. to take up the bass, very impressed by his statement on the Cream 'Live at the Albert Hall' film c. 1969 that J.S. Bach was one of his inspirations. Never forgot that and have ever since been impressed by and tried to emulate his dynamic, thumping style. A unique, trend setting and very talented musician. An inspiration.

A bit late but I just wanted to say that like so many other bass players Jack was an inspiration as a player and a writer to me. I tweeted a picture of one of my favourite albums (Harmony Row) which I was playing while waiting for my copy of 'Silver Rails' and was delighted to get a message back from Jack which thrilled me to bits. I saw Jack only once and it was at the 'Live in 75' I was absolutely amazed when that album appeared and somewhere in the mix a 17 year old version of me is clapping and cheering. A great man, a great scot and a musical behemoth, much missed. Love and peace to his loved ones...

In honor of Mr. Jack Bruce: Thank you for your music. In such a masterly way, you "taught" us (in America) our own blues so we would know what we have. I especially value the eccentric performances and song writing of Songs For A Tailor and Things We Like. Your music and voice has been a companion during rough times, and of course, Politician will NEVER go out of style!

I'm listening to the 2005 Cream reunion album and I'm reminded that Jack Bruce, in addition to being a phenomenal bass player, had a brilliant, beautiful, powerful voice. I just love it. I am so sorry the world has lost him and, although I'm so late expressing this, my sympathies go to his family, friends and fellow musicians.

Jack was a primary influence in my bass development. Breaking traditional roles and extending the reach from the rhythm section to the front line. And all the while with a voice that was unmatched in the rock and blues idiom. And lest we forget his incredible artistry as well on piano and cello. He will be sorely missed.

When I was 13, way back in 1967,one of my really cool friends at grammar school in Sheffield lent me an LP. This record changed my life forever, because I had never heard anything like it before or since, and it totally changed my musical tastes. This LP was "Fresh Cream." From that moment on, I was completely hooked. Jack Bruce and Cream were the biggest influences on my life and they are still my all time favourites. I am happy to say that I saw both Cream, and Jack as a solo artist live and these memories will go to the grave with me. God bless you Jack, and my heartfelt condolences to your Family.

I am deeply saddened by Jack's passing. Not only was his musicianship extraordinary, but he was able to maintain a calm demeanor during many challenging times in his career, including his interactions with certain confrontational band mates. Jack's bass playing was innovative and inspiring to millions of people. I know that Jack is now in a much better place and is at peace.

Cream were my first influence and exposure to true musicianship and invention. Jack was so pivotal to that era and his playing and singing were staggering - so intense and clearly different. I thought that the acoustic set with the Scottish musicians that was aired recently was one of the most moving and uplifting programs I have ever seen. It captured his essence perfectly for me. I'm glad to have experienced it all.

Such a beautiful musician. God bless you and your family as you blessed and uplifted so many of us through your work. The first thing I ever taught myself from a record came on a Cream 45. Twenty years later, playing a club in Boston with my band, I saw that the next act to come into the house was Jack. That blew my mind. You reimagined the bass and the blues for my generation and just kept working. Peace on you mate.

Jack Bruce was a fantastic bass player, a musical genius, and the soul for Cream, one of the most influential and musically prolific bands of the 20th century. He gave so much to the world of music, and never cared about the commercial or monitary parts of the buisness, just the music. The jams he had with the group were just amazing! He will be missed, and music will never be the same without him.
