Dear Jack, I recently moved from Los Angeles back to my hometown in New York and was blessed to attend the Grammy's Lifetime Achievement Award a few years ago. It was a thorough and moving assessment of the contributions of CREAM and of you, specifically. Bravo!! And your acceptance speech was humble, just like you..but classy. I'm curious what the tour will look like and of course, if dates are planned for the New York area. To hear you sing "We're Going Wrong" would take my breath away. God Bless you, Jack. You are in my thoughts and in my heart. Happy New & Healthy 2008. Michelle

Hi! I wish a happy 2008 for Jack Bruce and family. Joining the excitement of the Deutschesland Frankfurt Jaz Festival release, are the feelings of excitement of countless brazilians who are eager to buy and listen to this formidable record, showing Bruce's costumarily powerul bass fingerings, as impactant as in the mid 60s Jack's performances! Carlos Bill, 46, bass player, composer, eventually sings.

"...As impactant as the old, torrential Jack Bruce of the 1967 Cream Era"...Yeaah, that's what it seems with Jack's latest release, Live At Deutschesland Frankfurt Jazz Festival, 2006. A highly original release; extraordinary "good idea" coming from Jack's label. Old classics revisited with a new vigour. Thanks so much. Carlos Bill, bass player.

at present, i am slightly (!) under the influence, thanks to a good friend who knows im partial to the red wine (wink) & who indulged me for my Christmas. ...am listenin' to a LIVE jam of yours,Mr Bruce,as is my want,a blues tune called "Spoonful" (wonder how many times you've played THAT one!) THIS version, however,is from "ALMOST CREAM" which ---to refresh your memory --- is you, Blues Saraceno and Ginger (ye know, that full-of-sh1t,talented cockney drummer that just clicks with you musically!) anyway ...it was SHIT-HOT....you guys really meshed during the jam...i'm as jealous as hell- i wanna play like THAT! UR wife may come & kick my wee blond Scots ass...but,Jack,your voice is SO SEXY...and, mister, can you play the blues or WHAT?! Now , as Im quite a fan,Ive heard most versions of your versions of Spoonful...so, being somewhat knowledgeable on my subject(!) I just needed to pop in & let you know that,of them ALL,I like this one THE BEST. You & the boys are playin' at a wee personal venue somewhere and I think THAT brings out the best in you. So hook yerself up with some pub gigs and lemme know ...cos im due to visit the whole fandamily in Sotland soon!! might as well synchronise my events schedule (haha) Janie xxxx P.S. are you EVER gonna stop stuffin' about with lyrics???!!! (wink) P,P.S. im NOW listenin to a wee bit of Joss Stone...I like her,a Brit girl with plenty "oommph"!

the new seven moons album.is just a master piece.dear jack and fans, this your friend chico rey.terry reid and myself have been thinking of you. i have not been on line or in touch for awhile. but as usual you are ,recording creating and playing at an unbelieveable scale. what else would you do.for those of you who dont have the new live big band album and seven moons you all need to fill out your collectons with thses new additions. what else can be said except jack is in fine form with voice and his playing. the seven moons is a long awaited addition and completes a triolgy with robin.liquid gold can only describe the sound that robin, jack, and gary husband make.should this line up tour, yes and the world would stop for a couple of minutes for these two giants to set some stages on fire. i only wish they would.bye for now and god bless you jack.oh yeah my new album chico rey, "a fall from grace",comes out in march on peer music, active records. hello to everyone.love chico rey

My life would not be the same without the musical inspiration of Jack Bruce. Disraeli Gears was the first LP I ever bought. Still my favorite today. The amazingly power filled bass lines led me to become a bass player. The more I listened to the far from shallow lyrics, the more I understood the value of Jack's talents. The only live performance I was able to see was a sold out performance in Cleveland, mostly bass players. For the sake of music I wish you many many many more. Chris

Hello Jack (or Jack's webmaster) - I was just reading a comment from earlier this month in which a slightly tipsy reader named Janie was complimenting a live version of "Spoonful". The version she refers to was done at The Bottom Line in New York in December of 1989. I was at that show, sitting right near the stage. Janie is right...that show was phenomenal! It was the second of three times that I've seen you perform live (they were all GREAT!) and I hope I have the opportunity to see you again. I am a drummer by trade and would love the chance to jam with you sometime. I also play a bit of bass and you are one of my primary inspirations. I hope 2008 finds you doing well. If you do any gigs to support the new "Seven Moons" album, I hope some of them will be in America. Cheers! Chris P.S. - If "Janie" is who I think she is...she owns a killer Jack Bruce tribute page at myspace.com

A hello to Jack and all his fans, apparantly I'm the first one for 2008? I came on this site cause I was lookin for new work from ( I supose a very good friend of Jack,) Kip Hanrahan, and I'm quiet surprised that there's not alot mentioned about this longtime collaboration. Due to my age(1971) I'm not seeing Jack as much as the "rocker", but as a very underestemated and multitalented jazzmusician. So to all the fans that are not familiar with the collaboration between Bruce&Hanrahan check it out, it's the most amazing music you can imagin' and there's something in it for every taste, blues, funk, soul, latin, afro, jazz, poetry....So listen and enjoy, and jack if you ever read this tell Kip to make him (and new projects?) easier reachable for his fans, cause the man(and new material) is harder to spot than a braincel in Bush his head... greetings from Tenerife, Remcy

The new "Seven Moons" album by Jack Bruce and Robin Trower is extraordinary. I've been listening to it steadily for the past 2 weeks and enjoy it more and more each time. This trio, with Gary Husband on drums, is more dynamic and perfectly balanced than the previous Bruce-Trower collaborations. Trower plays with intensity and restraint, every note is beautifully phrased. Jacks vocals are rich and passionate like his finest performances of yore, while his bass playing is articulate and powerfully rhythmic. This album is much better than anything appearing on the "critic's best of the year" in 2007. It deserves major recognition for its overall level of musicianship, taste, performance and sonics (sound quality.)Very highly recommended.

Jack! I am hoping this is the best and most efficient way to send you a message. There's so much to say and yet I don't want to repeat anything you've already heard. If I was to meet you and could only ask you one question, I suppose it would be this: On Mick Jagger's Too Many Cooks (Spoil The Soup) produced by John Lennon, is that your incredibly catchy bassline? I heard it late one night on the radio and couldn't believe my ears. I thought it was some lost Motown classic; Then to research it online and find the rumour that it was YOU laying down the back-beat? Goodness...it's unbelievable and I have nothing else to say. I wish you were immortal. ;) Forever grateful, truly, Mary-Beth

Jack, Thank you for giving me so much enjoyment over the years. I have loved your gorgeous voice since the mid-sixties and you have shown me (and the world) what innovative musicianship can accomplish. Of course I loved your work with Cream - those were some extra-beautiful compositions, such as: We're going wrong, Dreaming, Deserted Cities of the Heart. Your powerful vocalizations in I feel free and Rollin' and Tumblin' are stunning. Did anyone but me notice that ZZ Top absolutely LIFTED your marvelous lead from Goodbye's I'm so glad?! Wow. You should get paid for that! The Album 'Songs for a Taylor' opened me up to a broader view of music and 'Things we like' is one of my all-time favorites. When I finish this sentence, I will look on your site where I can purchase your latest album - Sounds like a Gem. This is my first ever 'Thank you' to any artist but I better get busy with the short list of the others (Graham Parker, etc, etc) - as we're not getting any younger. Thank you Jack - for hours and hours of listening joy. Be well.

Dear Jack, Some words about hr-Bigband consert 2006. I was there, of course, with three other fans from Finland. We were listening all the songs carefully. First I was very surprised for the first song: "Never Tell..." This is one of your songs I listen very often. In fact listening from Songs For A Taylor since 1971. In the consert hall this piece did not sound as good as on the hr-CD. The mixer has done a good job! Years ago I was talking to John Marshall in London. He told me thtat he was waching your LP takes in the studio while the first piece was ready for the LP. John told that Jack`s singing and playing was something he had never seen before. Jon Hiseman played better than ever and the band WAS FANTASTIC. In Frankfurt something was missing! Still we enjoyed much. The Consult At Sunset was very nice as well. Jack - MAKE A TOUR WITH ROBIN AND GARY!!! For the new album Best Regards: Martti

Jack, I've spent an evening re-living memories and making new ones on YouTube, watching videos I'd never seen before of you in action. It brings back many a long night I spent as a teenager with my bass. I was born a little too late in 1970, so the first "new" album I bought of yours was A Question Of Time. I had to go backwards, but it was one hell of a ride. Nothing could prepare me for the sound of your bass on those old albums, and nothing to this day has affected me in quite the same was as when I heard the version of I'm So Glad on Goodbye. Seven minutes or so in, you shot up the neck, played some ungodly awful-but-beautiful thing that didn't fit at all, and you MADE it fit, and for that I owe you. That moment changed my perception of music, and therefore my life, forever. I've been pissing off guitar players ever since, and it's all your fault, you magnificent bastard. :) To play and sing with a fraction of the balls you display is still my goal every Saturday night when I play with my little Indiana cover band. You're with me on those nights, the fuel you stuck under me lights my fuckin' fire and off I go. I'd never be a tenth of the musician I am without you, and I feel barely a tenth of who you are. Thank you for everything. You're still the best goddamn bass player I've ever had my brains smashed in by. God? Yeah right, Eric. My god is Jack. Fuck the pretenders. Love, Doug

Can anyone please tell me if the three tracks by Jack Bruce, John Surman, John Hiseman that are included on the forthcoming 'Spirit' compilation represent the complete recording made for BBC's 'Jazz In Britain'. I recorded it from Radio 3 when it was originally broadcast and I seem to remember that there were two 30 minute broadcasts, transmitted one week apart. I'd be grateful if anyone can confirm this and advise if the complete session has or is likely to be made available. Thanks Simon

What is it with you and Ginger Baker? How come you seem to rub each other up the wrong way all the time? I must say it does actually seem a little one way, but then Ginger does have a reputation for a temper!

The new album SEVEN MOONS with Robin Trower is incredible! You have never sounded better and THE LAST DOOR is one of your best songs of all time. We went to see Robin Trower in Feb. and he was amazing, although it would have been great to see you as well. One of the best rock albums in years! Dave

jack - thank you for your entire body of work. it really has made my life fuller. 1. whatever happened to the all of the songs you recorded with dennis chambers and andy summers? i'd really like to hear them. 2. the next thing that i'd like to hear is an exploration of the other side of jack - piano and cello-based songs. maybe a cd of reinterpretations of songs like rope ladder and as you said plus new tunes in that vein. ok. well stay healthy and make music. jk

Hi again Jack. Your live appearances and abundance of new releases are really an extraordinary news for the music world. If, immediately after playing with West, Bruce & Laing, had you decided to stop playing, everything that you had just done until that period could have been enough. So...the countless achievements you did to music and improvisation, since then until now, are forever unmatchable. Carlos Bill, 46, bass player, composer.

Fantastic new album. I think that Seven Moons is the most exciting music that Jack and friends ( in this case Mr Trower and Gary Husband ) have produced for many years , and I include the Cream reunion in this opinion. How about a world tour ? Jack please come to Australia. You have many friends here who would love to see and hear you. All the best , Paul from Windsor NSW.

I dropped out of medice to become a bass player, thanks to Jack's influence, thus possibly saving hundreds of lives, but inflicting upon the world of live music a mediocre bass player! I gigged for 5 years, the best time ever, now in my dotage, working in the film industry, I still love good music, especially those great bass lines. I'm not a spring chicken (I'm 57 now), but it's amazing that, thanks to technology, I can send a word to a person that influenced my music, and some of my friends', for such a long time. I have the vinyl, or CD, of every album after the Cream era, and I am conscious that a person is compressed or suppressed by others most of the time, listening to what you recorded afterwards. I am writing songs as a singer and a songwriter now, after so many bands, and I can feel the difference. Sometimes it takes so long to understand who you really are. Thank you for your past, present, and future work! As our destiny is to attend more and more funerals as time goes by, I think the best is to stick to life-supporting activities (I also enjoy cooking, for many people, too). Love, Carlo

I wish you the best of luck with your health. I can not wait to see you playing in the states again. I Would love to see you do a New studio album. You have been my favorite bass player And My own bass influence since I saw you play in 88. Your solo albums are a bench mark on how to write intresting music with hooks. Not like the slop that EC has been putting out all of these years. EC did pull off the reunion shows rather well though! I think Ginger is completely wrong about your over playing, playing too loud.(Hell the drums are almost allways too loud) It is about time that "US Bass players got our day in the sun"! You are a true innovator in the field of bass playing. May god bless you allways. Thanks for the Great music all of these years.

I just saw on You Tube, your performance of "We're Going Wrong" with solo piano. Had headphones on and it really got to me-I posted my immediate thoughts on an excellent fan-post group, but if you ever read these comments wanted to share as well: Fantastic to have a nicely photographed and edited segment of "Just Jack" in his mood. As I listen with headphones, I am just overwhelmed by the emotion, power and sensitivity of this performance. It has always been a vocal tour de force. I saw Jack at 'The House of Blues' with Vernon Reid (Shadows In The Air) and I really wasn't into the show-it just seemed tired. Then he broke into "We're Going Wrong" and time stood still. I made a mental note to always remember those moments by looking at the ceiling and just imagining the paint coming off from Jack's stunning vibrato. Yes, he did take the paint off the ceiling. And in my mind, and my ears I had never heard a singer with such passion and feeling. So to hear this solo piano performance, it just cuts like a knife. When he sings off key or jazzes out the pitch-I almost want to cry. It is like the Beatles breaking up. Hard to explain. Thanks. Mike in LA

Jack, Excellent work Seven Moons! Just like when I first heard Fresh Cream back in 66 in Germany as a high school student, Cream have been a huge influence in my life and playing, in fact I play bass in a Cream tribute band called Scream but we added a 4th member, a female to sing, she is the "S" of Cream. Always seemed to miss Cream concerts by a day or two or was put on restriction for misbehavior (a typical Army Brat practice) so when I finally got the chance to see the reunion at Madison Square Gardens in 2005 a life long dream was realized and the gig was magic. Thank you and I hope that Cream will be able to perform a West Coast reunion at the Fillmore as this is where it all exploded for Cream. Good health and luck to you always. Love the tones on Seven Moons, keep rockin! Purple

As long as I can remember I have tended to prefer music with a more pronounced bass line. That darker sound just magically attracts me in every song. I am therefore incredibly glad that I discovered your music (and that of a certain Mr Entwistle). It enriched my life so greatly, and even though I'm only in my twenties (and sometimes devastated about what I missed out on for so long and what I missed simply because I wasn't born yet), I am sure that this, your music, will stick with me for all my life. I am sure this is not the first time you hear this, but I would regret if I didn't voice my appreciation in any way, so there. My deepest thanks, your work really means a lot to me, and all the best to you!

Hello dear Jack Bruce! I hope the upcoming Hippiefest can bring us the excitement of the expectations of the mid 60s musical experimentations; we here in Rio de Janeiro sincerely hope that your performances there can show some amazing bass solos and piano playing as well - something that remind us of your most recent shows in Frankfurt, and with that sumptuous bass intonation of your already legendary Warwick. We hope shows can be recorded for dvds and cds... Happy birthday! Carlos Bill, 46, bass player, composer.

Happy Birthday Jack You might be 65 but please don't ever think of retiring!!! It is also my son's 10th birthday ... a cause for double celebration!!! Love the Seven Moons disc. It's rapidly becoming my most played CD these days. Hope there will be some tour dates announced. Saw Jethro Tull at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall last night. A great gig BTW. During the interval they played a version of "Sunshine" which sounded live and recent and featured a very Ian Andersonesque flute playing the riff. I've not heard this before. Does anybody know where it originates? Have you been jamming with Tull Mr. Bruce? Sounded great anyway! Best regards HSMJ (Ghostmojo)

A very happy birthday, to you, my hero. Since 1983, I have been enthralled by everything asociated with you. Cream, Solo, W,B&L; Super Quartet, etc,etc.. I have watched in awe the life and legacy you have led and created. No one. Absolutley NO ONE on the planet can say they have done what you have done. You created Heavy Metal, the "Power Trio" and Jazz Fusion. But other than that you the MAN, have been an ispiration to me and others around the planet. I owe you a debt, I can never repay. You made the bad times bearable and the good times: Great! I will never forget that. Ever. Thank you, Jack for coming into my life. I love you with all my heart. God bless you and your family. My hero... Simply the world's greatest Musician.

Hello Jack! And so continues my yearly tradition of stopping by and wishing you a very Happy Birthday, on this your 65th, a great milestone! Myself, a bass player for 6 years now, can not emphasize enough how much your music has influenced me! I dont think I would be where I am today if it weren't for you! I hope your 65th is a great one, and perhaps I'll catch you in Philadelphia this summer! Best wishes and keep on rockin'! Kelly

Jack was on BBC Radio 2 last week talking about various things but mainly to comment upon the up and coming 6 disc career anthology box-set, "Can You Follow". He was on good form and in the conversation it became clear this set will cover material from the GBO and Alexis Korner days presumably up to the present day. This sounds like a great release and long overdue. the last serious retrospective was "Willpower" in 1988, although that only covered Polydor-RSO material. I wonder if the new collection will cover all his albums, bands, collaborations and various record labels? If somebody can pull that off it would be a miracle. Does anybody know if it will contain any previously unreleased material? Or is it just a very extensive collection or best of covering what has been afterall a very extensive career? Either way I'm sure it will be a must have and look forward to a track listing.

Thanks for keeping my picture ("Something old, something new") in Gallery 2, I get nice notes all the time from your site (and work too!)Thanks to Derek the Great as well. I was honored to touch your "Fool" painted bass at the Hard Rock Vault in Orlando about 3 years ago before they closed their doors, I got away with it after being warned I would be arrested...Bollocks! So happy you're in as good health as possible. What a strong person ypu are. Also still laughing ,and amaze), finding out that, in 1947, aged 4, you conducted that orchestra sailing from Europe to the States. Wow. But I'm happiest that I cauught you and your solo bands 45 different times, including the Ringo stuff, the Abbey thingee, and that little Cream soiree in 2005. Just reminiscing here because I get a little twisted when I see the great Jack alingned with much inferior musicians on another Jack Bruce of Cream greatest hits-type thing. But your health, happiness, financial security is of the utmost now. Peace and love.

It seems that you (Jackella) aren't fond of the extended jamming from the Creamsicle days. Having heard many live bootlegs, one has to acknowledge that it must have been a terrible grind on days when perspiration outweighed inspiration. Notwithstanding, you trois managed on many occasions to offer up a welcome serving of in-the-momentness, which is sorely missed. So allow yourself credit. Hugs 'n Squeezes, pLee P.S.: The offer to make you legal still stands ;0)

Hello Jack, Really enjoyed your recent 'Seven Moons' cd with Robin Trower. In fact, I have enjoyed all 3 cd's you two have issued together. Two summers ago, Black Sabbath - with Ronnie James Dio, did a World Tour playing material exclusively from 3 cd's the line-up had recorded together (No Ozzy material). I hope you and Robin consider playing a few dates - with a simular style set list. It would go over very well. Nice to see you come to Canada for the Jeff Healey tribute. He was both unique, and genuine, as a player, and more importantly, as a person. Met him once, when he came to Manitoba, Canada, to play. Gave him an old Blues cd for his radio show. Anyway, if you and Robin do get together, come over to Canada. If not, record a dvd from one of the shows. Best of luck with your summer tour. Regards, Bob Manitoba, Canada

Dear Jack, I'm not sure if you get the chance to read the guestbook much, but I had to let you know what an impact you've had on my growth as a musician. My husband is a bass player and I'm a guitar player and we do perform a few cream songs (we do alot of benefits and non-profits & such). You have broken through the barriers of what music was, and what was expected of a bassist back then, and have still continued to go further on. As much as I hate to say, I'm sorry I'll miss seeing you at the Woodinville Hippiefest for lack of being able to get a ticket. Best wishes for your health, and glad to know you're still rockin' on.

Very interesting reading the local Essex & Suffolk newspaper article by Jack. The hints for another Cream reunion are tantalising to say the least! Let's hope something transpires ... it would be great to see the three of you guys on stage again. Could we have "Traintime"; "Steppin' Out"; "World Of Pain"; "Dance The Night Away"; "Cat's Squirrel"; "I Feel Free" and "SWLABR" this time around? Thanks. PS - Jack, have you ever thought of bringing keyboards onto stage with Cream? Geddy Lee does this very effectively for some numbers (and Rush resolutely remain a trio) switching between bass and keys as necessary. I know this would have been difficult back in the 60s - but nowadays with ace PA systems etc. - anything is possible. Numbers that might suit it could be "We're Going Wrong" and "Doing That Scrapyard Thing" for starters. Cheers H

Hi Jack !!! I am absolutely glad and happy with the issue of "Can You Follow?". But i think what you need to explain yourself in all your power and glory is a 12 Cd set or even much more. In the maintime, i am afraid because one of your most overlooked works, the AUTOMATIC album, is dreaming in the vaults without a word of rememberings. Without a doubt, the AUTOMATIC album must be the next move on the way. And this is a message for all whom to concern it: Please reissue The Automatic album .... because with Jack "the best is still to come". All my best whises for You, a musician born to make the all four seasons of the word MUSIC.

Hello Jack, my day simply isnt complete till ive heard your soaring voice or one of your bass riffs.....BUGGER money , my soul is satisfied simply by having my CD collection and iPod jam-packed with 'Jack (The) Bruce'..... Im poppin in to say that I pre-ordered (ka-ching!) and now have 'Can You Follow?'. Aaaawwww Jack , it is SUCH treasure. Till now , my focus was your first three solo albums , CREAM and WB&L - I hadn't heard the Alexis Korner , Graham Bond , Rocket 88 , Tony Williams music . Thanks for filling in the gaps ! I'm so diggin' that DIRTY TASTY R&B of the GBO..what a scrumptious sound....like melted warm dark chocolate ! Of the rest ...'ONE WORD' (LifeTime) , 'AUTOMATIC PILOT' (solo you!), WAITING FOR THE CALL (Rocket 88 - love the double-bass),'MAKE LOVE','THE WIND CRIES MARY' and DAVID'S HARP stand out for me. oh yeah and the bass on Life on Earth (BBM). One notable exclusion tho' is SMILES AND GRINS.Im curious as to why you left it off...? CONGRATULATIONS , SIR - it is a collection of work to be proud of. P.S. Enjoy 'HippieFest' ( or is that 'hip-replace-fest'...ooohh i AM naughty...hehehe) play like the Best in the World AND knock their socks off , eh ??!! P.P.S. I hope that this time you Ginger and Eric do play together again. Janie xxxxxx

The culmination of a dream. Saw J. Bruce, the short version, at a winery near Seattle. Too good to put in words. Always wanted to see Jack in person. Listen to his music every day. A lot fonder of his solo work and contemporary albums then the re-hash of the Cream material, but when dreams become reality in real time, who's to quibble? Nobody better, no artist more passionate about their work. Thank You for continuing to bring your music to us all. TGS

Jack's late mother,Betty, used to babysit me back in 1979. She, I think was in her early 70s and I was 10. I remember her clearly playing me Jack's records and being so proud of her son. Thus the first LPs I owned were Hows Tricks and Disraeli Gears. I now own over 1500 LPs. Although I have never met Jack, I did meet some of his family when Betty took me to Dundee. Betty was a brilliant babysitter but her cat 'Jason' was a pain in the arse. Still following the first musician I ever heard. Love, Richard.

Hi Jack. I sincerely hope that producers become interested in releasing the best moments of your performances in the Hippiefest tour. Did you play at the Dodge? Setlist consists of the more psychedelic songs (Dance The Night Away, As You Said, Outside Woman Blues, Powerhouse Sod, The Doctor, Play With Fire), or the beautiful introspective ones, Into The Storm, One, To Isengard, Smiles And Grins? Bass solos are on the spot? The curiosity about the release of Automatic is great. Any chance? Best as always, Carlos Bill, bass player, composer.

You inspired me to go fretless,& eventually transition to Double Bass.Attended "Hippifest" in San Diego, just to see YOU play again & was not disappointed. You've still got it,man! Incredible chops, even after all these years & all the health challenges.Loved that Bass! What is it? I want one! Hope you read this,so you know how much you impacted one girl's life. Thanks, Michele

Jack Bruce, your no-competition, unique bass solos and husky vocals are the most obvious achievements that you conquered. The piano playing is exceptional and virtuose, but you know more than anybody else, Jack, that your exquisite melodies on the bass gave birth to an intimacy with the more subtle intimacies of the human being. May the record companies launch also more live dvds, of Jack's period with West, Bruce & Laing and Cuicoland Express, or his 1975 time in the band with Mick Taylor and Carla Bley, or the Deutschesland Festival too. My very best wishes ever, Carlos Bill, bassist, composer.

Hi Jack: I was at the Hippiefest in Toronto today. I was sitting 30 feet from center stage. You are the man Jack. Wow! What a performance. I can say that in my life time I was able to see Jack Bruce live. I am a happy man. Your bass performance was truly jaw opening. You sing better then ever. Thanks again Jack...you know what would make me even more happier?...to see Cream in Toronto sometime down the road... Peace, Tony

Hey, Jack! You were terrific at Hippiefest! Wish you'd been given more time, though, as you take your performances seriously and give your all, which is very much appreciated. The voice is still fabulous and the playing unmatched. Thanks for the great show. We love you in Toronto and appreciate your earlier appearance at Jeff H's tribute, too. Finally, after being a fan for 40 years, I saw Jack Bruce live in concert at Hippiefest. I drove for 16 hours to get to Seattle (and 16 hours back!), but it fulfilled a dream - Jack Bruce, Live, In Concert! Thanks, Jack for many years of inspirational, thought provoking, and enjoyable music. P.S., the rest of the music at Hippiefest was great too.

So excited to see the Hippiefest this Saturday night! I grabbed up Front Row seats when I heard Jack would be headlining. Jack, you are my all-time favorite bassist and your vocals are also superb and amongst my favorites. Can't wait to finally see ya "live"!!!!! Never thought I'd get the chance. Any chance for "Rope Ladder..." or "We're Going Wrong"????????? No matter what you play, I'll be unbelievably happy! Have a great tour, and I'll see ya in 4 days! :-)

Hi Jack, Just a note to say that I've been a fan since 1968. Then living in New Zealand, a friend played me "Disraeli Gears" on my 15th birthday. Like first hearing Bird did for many a budding musician, it changed my life! Ran out & bought it the next day. In the booklet to "Harmony Row" it states that that album is your favourite of all your solo stuff. Mine too. The only time I ever saw you was at the Bracknell Jazz Fest in (I believe) 1979 with Rocket 88. Cheers, Erik.

I was fortunate to catch Jack in Meadowbrook a couple of days ago as part of his current tour. I had seen Jack before with Ringo's all-Starr band and the Cream reunion at MSG. However, this performance was special. Jack opened with "As you said" performed solo on acoustic. Great stuff! Given the time limitations, Jack did not perform any of his solo material (I would have liked to hear Rope Ladder, for instance). However, he was in fine form, ripping some exceptional bass riffs and a strong voice, to boot. It was gratifying to see Jack's health appears well, his recent illness not impacting one iota on his performance. A night I will always remember. Long life, Jack!

Hippiefest was a sensational delight. Saw you with Cream at MSG in 2005 but was so far back. I don't know why but I didn't know you were going to be at Hippiefest until I heard Sitting on Top of the World while sitting outside on a bucket. Wanted to buy a ticket, but the ticket booth was closed, so I took my life in my hands and climbed over the chain link fence. At 46, not the smartest move. No worries I made it with no injuries. I danced with happy tears in my eyes to White Room. I'm going to ask my boyfriend to take me for my birthday to the Jeff Healey Benefit. Keep on Rockin', PLEASE!

Hello Jack, This is David Colister, of Cleveland, Ohio USA. I'm honored to leave a note in your guestbook, and to say that you have been a major musical influence on me; although I play guitar and not bass. I'm 44 years young now, and at age 14 I bought a well worn copy of "Disraeli Gears" at a neighborhood rummage sale for fifty cents - simply because I dug the psychedelic album cover art and collage of you, Ginger and Eric wearing those cool outfits in all of those pictures on the back! But when I listened to the record I was instantly transformed into a serious musician. As taken as I was by Eric's lead guitar playing and "woman tone", it was your bass grooves and melodies, your superlative vocals and harmonies, and your songs which contributed most to my enduring magical impression of Cream, and of your amazing legacy of work in the ensuing years. I was fortunate to meet you and chat for a few minutes in Las Vegas, when you played Calamity Jane's, with Ginger, Bernie Worell, and Blues Saraceno. I was playing guitar in union bands in Las Vegas at the time with all of the big name casino entertainers and singers, and skipped out "sick" from my second show gig with the band at Caesar's that evening to catch your show. Eric was also playing in town then, at the Aladdin, and of course with Cream reunion rumors continuously swirling we hoped for some unannounced magic that night... we got it, from what you and Ginger were throwing down. I'm elated to discover this website and to see you are as busy as ever making great music and playing great bass. Additionally, I enjoyed your new website immensely, Jack! Great news, photos, and graphics, plus the accessible links and information are user friendly and easy to read. If you ever need a show or tour poster or art done, especially for a Cleveland or San Francicso show, let me know and I'd be honored to do one. I am a published poster and graphic artist, specializing in highly detailed, time consuming pen and ink art. I am well known as an artist in San Francisco with the Free Press, and my art is reminiscent of the styles of Griffin, Mouse, Kelley, and Crumb, but with more detail and symmetry. I create very interesting lettering and logo designs too, all hand drawn. I will be happy to send you examples. Thank you for all of the great music over the years, Jack! I hope to meet you again sometime or do some art for you. Yours truly, David

Dear Mr.Bruce, I am a big fan of your music. I really like your bass tone on the old cream live records. I have a question. What electronics modification did you make on your EB-3 bass? and what pickup did you use on that records. Did you use the bridge pickup or neck pickup or did you blend the two?. I can not find this info on the gear section of this site. I also have an EB-3 myself. I am really curious about how you made that tone and hope you can anwer my question. Thanks, Barend

Jack, I bought Disraeli Gears in 1967 on vinyl and just recently bought the CD. About a month ago I saw a comment by you in our local newspaper. Someone asked you whether Cream would have another tour. According to the paper you said something like, "What do I know I'm just the bass player" Well Jack, you are more than the bass player, you represent the fourth instrument in a 3 piece power trio. You're singing to Cream is Jim Morrison's singing to The Door's sound. It wasn't apparent to me when I was a kid listening to Cream in the late 60's but its clear to me today your voice is a musical instrument. You can sing it all, I don't know the terms but the range is there the tone is there and the bravado is there. So IMO without Jack there is no Cream-really. You're the best, Blair

Greetings, just wanted to share with you that a couple weekends ago I was a dinner guest at the home of Margaret and Henry Grimes, one of the all-time great bassists who has played with everyone from Benny Goodman to Cecil Taylor and Albert Ayler, Miles, Trane, Monk, Rollins, Ornette, Cherry, Mulligan. . . . I'd brought a copy of Jack's "Things We Like" album, which Henry also liked -- very much! We listened to it 5 times over! One of Henry's comments: "He's really playing . . . there are a lot of bass players but he's really playing . . . there's a difference, you know." Hats off to Jack Bruce and Henry Grimes!

Hi Jack, I've been a fan of yours for years . A fine strong voice and impeccable bass playing - as Ginger once said "Jack's a f**king good bass player". I could drone on about Cream but I expect you're sick to death of talking about that group. How did you come to get involved with Carla Bley and her masterpiece "Escalator over the hill?" That album was a monumental piece of work - for the amount of work that went into it, you almost feel dutybound to listen to it. Great stuff, and as usual, you played a blinder. All the best, Jim Pike

Thank you for Seven Moons, I am really enjoying it. It is interesting the coincidences in life, I have recently rediscovered my Jack Bruce library and have been working to replace my vinyl with CDs. I went out to hunt for "Johnny McLauhglin Electric Guitarist," or the first West, Bruce, and Laing CD, and happily discovered "Seven Moons." Any hope that you can do something will Leslie and Corky next? I would love to find your version of that old Polydor album you guys put out after Cream broke up that featured cartoons of each of you on the cover. I had the vinyl and wore it out. Thanks for ALL the great music. Dan

Hi all, was looking around the net for any live music of Jack's when he was playing in Tony William's Lifetime. It is amazing to me that a fusion band of this order does not have any official live recorded music. I did find a cool version of "Dance of Maya" at youtube. What I really can't understand is that no recording survived from Lifetime's performance at the 1970 Newport RI Jazz Festival. Does anyone know of any recordings from this incredible band? (Live)

I just caught the last part of the 2008 Albert Hall reunion and was moved to tears, checked out this site and was shocked to hear of Jack's illness but relieved to read of his recovery. I saw Jack with Graham Bond when GB was a regular at Portsmouth Rendezvous Club, or possibly even before, and much later at Riki Farr's club I saw Cream.....or perhaps Ginger passed out, resulting in cancellation???. Thanks for the memories and the music. Wishing you much good health and long may you play. Much love. Keith.

You came up in a discussion today in a blog and I thought I would come and visit your site and see what you've been up to. You are simply a wonder and I am so glad that you are playing out and enjoying it still! Your voice never ceases to amaze me. Vocally you stand in a league of your own. Wrong Side of Town on the BBM disc is one of the most incredible vocal performances of all time. You wrote the book on the bass and your songwriting and composition is completely unique. Hi Jack I listen every day to your timeless powerful passionate music...my MOST recent discovery of treasure in your vault is TIMESLIP . goodness , it's bloody AMAZING . starts off with a funky slow bass riff that draws you in....then your voice is added on top , singing a strange , beautiful melody ( at first i thought you were hitting wrong notes , then i realised they were just PERFECT !) ....and just when i was gettin ma head around the mix of fine bass and starnge melody... you break into a fast-paced exciting sexy bass solo like NO other !!!!. WHEW ...Yummy ...music to sink your teeth into !!! class now think of what you CAN do , and not what you should do , when you play Birmingham . if there was ONE gig of yours i'd like to see ..it is THAT one. it's going to be a night of 'proper' music a la Jack Bruce...not a classic rock rehash... Go well maestro Janie xxxx

Hi Jack, Ive seen you in concert in the 70's at the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton,in the 80's at Colne University,Ronnie Scott's nightclub in Birmingham, more recently at the Wulfrun Hall in Wolverhampton and at the Cream reunion in '05 at the Albert Hall. Like all great musicians I know you and your amazing music will be remembered for all time and I'm sure you have a lot more to offer in the future. I wished for around 35 years that Cream would get together again - I know that sounds rediculous but it's true.At the reunion I was way up in the "Gods"and didn't have much of a view but the atmosphere was brilliant. It was a very moving experience for me - I admit tears did fall as well as being over the moon. I dont think that perhaps you or Ginger and Eric realise just how much we love and dig your music - I hope you dont mind me saying this but I think the whole is greater than the parts. Anyway,I'll be at Birmingham Town Hall on Friday evening wearing my black reunion t shirt - I know the music will be brilliant. Kind Regards Jack and sorry if I've bored you.

Hi Jack, Coming home to Harmony Row! Although I've been a lifelong fan, it's only in the last couple of years that I've caught you on the road. I was one of the priviliged few who witnessed the gig in the foyer of the RSAMD in Glasgow last May, and Natasha kindly got you to sign the programme for myself and my partner, Julia. It was an uplifting night, which I'll never forget and which I'm sure you must have been quietly proud of. Funnily enough, I'd always imagined your music played as a big band sound - it seems to naturally lend itself to that format - so when I heard about the Birmingham (beautiful town hall) gig, we just had to go. I wasn't disappointed - I thought it sounded as though musically, you'd "come home" somehow, which is not to suggest you don't have many musical homes. Among many musical highlights on the night, I thought that "Born Under a Bad sign" and "Smiles & Grins" were just amazing. My only regret is that "Tickets to Waterfalls" didn't make it onto the set list. I really do think that you should do a big band tour, even if it's just the UK and get a CD of this stuff out. I think your moment has come again. It would doubtless be a strain on the old lungs and I've wondered if you've ever considered bring in a guest singer - Pat Kane from Hue & Cry would be a good fit,I think. After the gig, we accidentally found ourselves with Marti the Fin hanging around the stage door and to complete the evening I got to shake your hand.I appreciate that you must be fed up with that stuff, but it meant a lot to us - Natasha even remembered us from Glasgow! The next day, I had to rush back to Glasgow to meet my eldest son and take him to see the Rangers playing St Mirren at Ibrox. I was too late, but as we drove down Harmony Row, I was telling him abut my Birmingham adventure. I asked him if he knew what was significant about Harmony Row. "Yes" he replied " Alex Ferguson was born here" Well, that two famous sons from Harmony Row! Many, many thanks for two wonderful gigs. I hope to see many more. Greetings from Glasgow regardez - youse Bob

I've been playing bass for 32 years, and it all started with hearing some Cream songs! Yet, over the years I've come to admire Jack Bruce as far more than the outstanding bassman he is. He is also an all-around brilliant musical mind. Listening, recently, to the beautiful, "Ships in the Night," and hearing the wonderful piano, and the cellos, I wondered if Mr. Bruce might someday grace us with some compositions for those instruments. Am I the only one who would find that interesting? I'll wait (and hope)and continue to enjoy the vast and varied library of JB--however it might grow. Thanks for the great music!!!

The Birmingham Town hall show with the BBC Big Band was brilliant. I think that the big band jazz sound suits Jack's music very well, some of the improvisation was superb, the arrangements powerful and Jack's singing wonderful, alongside the superb musicianship around him, including the band and Gary Husband. Jszz singer Clare Teal who presented the show for BBC wrote a short piece in the Yorkshire Post saying this was an 'amazing' show, 'one of the best concerts I've ever had the pleasure to attend'. I would like to think that there could be more collaborations of this kind, (perhaps with some new or different music)?

Hello Jack Seeing as i'm not able to get from the arse end of Africa to my home island , i listened to the BBC Big Band performance on the internet via the BBC 2 Radio website. I KNEW it would be great...but when i heard Theme for an Imaginary Western the tears started streaming down my face. It really really moves me ....so beautiful . I only discovered your music at the beg. of 2007 (thru YouTube !!!) so i only heard you sing this song for the first time last year . it WAS a video from 1971 though!! 'twas you sitting alone at a piano singing your heart out. It made me cry then , and now , 37 years from then , you can still bring the tears to my eyes . it's not just the beauty of the song , it's YOU singing it that gets me. ye know , yer voice might not have all that it used to have, but you can still convey all that is inside you through that voice . THAT is special. Enjoy the gig with that red-heeded nutter , Ginger . should be FUN .... ! enjoy the Tony Williams tributes as well and last but not least MAY YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HAVE A SMASHIN' CHRISTMAS , MR JACK BRUCE. peace and love Janie xxxxx

Jack!: When are you coming back to the Bay Area? It has been more than ten long years since your last appearance here at the Stone on Broadway in the city...I had to go to NYC in '85 just to see you and Steve Swallow with Kip Hanrahan... Is there any chance that either The Cream or Kip will land on these strange and distant shores any time soon? We just got Peter Hammill a few months back and a few others...Yet there is no replacement for yourself and for that matter Robin "Hood of High-Gate" Trower! Could we please order yet another hot and crispy "B.L.T."...The last CD was a bite disappointing to me jaded-jazz-rock ears... More Pearl Jammish and commercial that one would have expected...I also miss you with West,Bruce & Laing...The CDs still sell...What about a reformation of these cats? Missing yourself Jack,Jaco whom I grew-up with in So. Florida in the 60's and 70's and of course Jonas Hellborg who I saw with Ginger and also Brian Auger a few times in the late 80's in Malibu...PLEASE Rock our world Jack!

Hey Jack.Hope you are feeling well and looking forward to Christmas cooking again! Have greatly enjoyed Seven Moons and in seeing Robin Trower play very recently I couldn't help but wish that you two were touring together.Being greedy I'd love to see you with Leslie and Corky also, never mind more Cream gigs.Actually seeing YOU would be the main thing!I have just posted a song called One Finger Boogie about the perils of writing and recording alone at home without a band, at www.MySpace.com robfaircloth. Boy could I do with your songwriting, your voice, your playing and your inspiration. Not much to ask for there, eh? Anyway I wanted to make a reference to you and so, 50 seconds in, I've mentioned your name and shamelessly ripped two bars of Sunshine! My apologies but your influence really does spread to all extremes of musical ability!Take care and thank you so much for your continuing genius. Rob

Hey, all. Messed up when I was trying to tell you yesterday about a web location and song I've written where I have made reference to Jack. Didn't know or understand about the various rules of engagement or web language allowed. Suffice to say that the song One Finger Boogie is at www.myspace.com0robfaircloth where 0 represents a forwardslash. Hope this makes sense now - and BOOGIE ON!!! All Hail the great and Powerful Mr. Jack Bruce!!! Rob

Jack, Caught you at the Blue Note in Tokyo and was attempting to talk to you when the security cut me off. I was able to talk to Cindy though. My first bass was a Gibson EB-3 and I now have a Warwick Thumb bass 40 years later. Keeping the flame alive! Gale

To Jack and band, thanks so much for touring and bringing your music to Japan. The trip from Australia was so worth it to see you guys up close, having fun and playing great music. You guys never missed a beat and were a really tight jazz rock fusion - funk outfit. I only hope that the filming and recording by Fuji Television on the last night can be released on DVD as these performances shouldn't be lost to the world. Seeing you guys only confirmed to me what I already knew, that you are one of the world's most accomplished and versatile musicians of the past 50 years.

Hi Jack Bruce. I and my wife Beth wish you the happiest 2009 for you and family and career. As could have happened with any legend in music, your return to the music industry and venues is really something else, with the characteristic quality that you always do with your songs. Many happy tours with Trower and Husband, Jack Bruce; your bass is as commanding and authoritative as ever, and it marks other successful come-back where unfortunately Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison failed, God bless them... Thanks so much for your music. Much health, peace of mind and realizations for 2009. Seven Moons is as aggressive and with that taste of news as were Out Of The Storm, Songs For A Tailor, Spirit (instrumental),cd Cities Of The Heart and Wheels of Fire albuns, yes... Best! Carlos Bill, bass player.
